It's not up to 'them' it's up to mother nature. The ideal scenario is for a good fall of snow followed by a very severe frost. Then more snow to fall on that. This will mean the base layer forms a hard packed ice base that will protect the snow from fast-melting for the rest of the season. Signs are very encouraging at the moment for this to be the best season for a few years, provided the snow/freeze conditions last for the next few weeks.

What, better than last year when people were skiing already? And what a pile of pants that turned into.
No-one can predict now what the season will turn into
