would you buy boots online

Baring in mind I am between basic to intermediate skier and probably always will be, I have been looking to buy boots but dont want to pay a fortune as I only ski once a year. I have noticed boots on auction sites called langer starting at £20.00. I am a UK size 8 and was wondering are you better going a size bigger for more room. Should you buy 2nd hand online or get them specially fitted and pay more advice please. Plus is there any makes to stay clear of.

Hi Monty
You say your between basic to inter skier, I recommend you get fitted boots and pay the little bit extra. I got mine last year from a ski shop the boots were last seasons so were slightly cheaper but they fitted them. This will save blisters and aching shins etc. You will see a definate inprovement in you skiing to intermediate +.

I think others will come in and agree with me. Good Luck.

go into snow & rock they have a sale on ,which are last seasons stock .get them fitted they are usually a size smaller and not a size bigger which could cause you all sorts of problems.i got my boots would custom made foot beds ,because i am flat footed ( no foot arch) which is a opition.if you try more than one pair on and there fit ok and you are not happy with the price ,make your excuses ;and buy the boots you have tried on ebay.i cant see you getting a better price than in the sales, but ...

re: would you buy boots online

Never!!!
The boot is the most important of the three elements - boots, skis, bindings. They have to be comfortable and at the same time have to fit tightly on your feet. Furthermore boots are different - depending on the brand name(producer) - some are for wider feet, some for
narrower(slimmer) feet. A person has to try and see which suits them better.

I'm with the concensus... go to a reputable dealer for a fitting as they know their stuff (my 1st boots were misssold as fitted incorrectly, too narrow for my slightely wider feet, I received a voucher to the value and still have they boots at home... needless to say that's how i afforded my skis Very Happy ). 2nd pair fitted by ellis brigham, would recommend these guys to anyone, no pain but still a good tight responsive fit.

I have moulded footbeds too although not flat footed it just helps amazingly with the comfort, well worth the £50 extra

Good luck

Never heard of Langer - but Lange are are a good boot for advanced skiers, but very hard and not very comfortable. I had a pair for several years and recently changed them and the difference in comfort is massive.

Remember that boots are the most important bit of kit you will buy and to have poor fitting or uncomfortable boots could ruin your holiday. Most shops will now heat-mould your boots to ensure a perfect fit so to just buy them off the shelf in my humble opinion would be a very ...
