yagoda village

Did anyone stay at the yagoda village 2004/05, if so could they let me know what they thought.
I,m interested to know about security and getting to Borovets. I have been to borovets twice before so know the resort but have stayed at the Rila and was looking for something a little quieter this time but have seen a couple of bad reviews. Also the on site bar and food what was that like, thanks to anyone who can help

re: yagoda village

We stayed there the other year and it was the first time we had skiied.

Don't go expecting to self cater - the facilities in the cabin are not up to it neither are the shops in Borovets! We were able to get breakfast and do the kids a hot chocolate and biscuit type supper so that was just fine.

Very warm - too hot at times - and the shower was also very good - beware of the rather unusual wiring in the bathroom but having stayed in other accommodation since this is not only a quality ...

The cabin was very clean and the ladies came in daily to empty the bin etc if you left the sign in the window for them to do so.

We used the restaurant once and were very pleased with our meal ordered off the menu - must admit the buffet style food did not look so appetising!

We caught the ski bus each morning without a problem but did find that coming back on the bus at 4.30 didn't really work as by the time we had collected the children from kindergarten the runs had stopped to take the workers back to Samokov. We therefore tended to stay in town and have an early tea and then a taxi back later. Remember our kids were only 5 & 7 at the time so this suited us fine!! A little inconvenient and the second year we went we did stay in town which for us was better.

The owners were friendly with very limited English but helpful. We used the safety deposit and exchange facilities with no problems. Never got around to a sauna.

Hope this helps - would use again especially now the kids are bigger.
