Tried to get tricked a few times by the same waiter at the Old House. He added 20 lev to the bill, then apologized. Brought us a seperate bill for the drinks and kept them on the amin bill. Then, he did not bring us our change until we asked him specifically.Also, a strange 80lev charge ended up on our bill at Hotel Pamporovo. When I asked for an itemized printout, it disappeared. Watch out.

Also berware. I changed up 180 opounds in the alaska supermarket and she only exchanged for 160. questioned this and the extra 20 appeared. The I changed 40 in the ski centre 2 exchange and they gave me 70 levs instead of 80. Both time they were quite happy to recify their mistake but if your the type of person not to double check they can be making a tidy penny from you!!!re: Rip off alert: Old House
Good to see that the Bulgarians are making every effort to provide a good honest service to ensure the last remaining client who was not disappointed with the snow does not go back to Pamporovo!

was told today many workers are complaining because theres not enough work going around due to lack of visitors,,, good and bad everywhere but take the p!ss to much and you suffer in the end!!!re: Rip off alert: Old House

Bulgaria of 20 years ago was a good, honest down to earth resort. I even saw a waiter pick up a child's lost wallet and spend ten minutes trying to find its owner. Doubt if it would happen now.While there were always dodgy characters in Bulgaria..mafia and all that, most were fantastic hosts. Bulgarians are really killing the golden goose by forgetting why we all returned loyally year after year.

my to lads had mobile phones stolen so called freindly barstaff offered to take a photo for them in a busy bar when they got hold of the phone they simply dissapeared in the back of the bar .when my lads complained they were just fobbed off with lies by the people incharge.when i called the next day no one new anything about the incident . police not interested either , lovely place beware.re: Rip off alert: Old House
The old mobile phone rip off!!! See Lizzie Lou posts, this scam has been running for the last year. I have skied in Borovets for the last 9 years but not going this season because of the rip offs and the way the bulgarian staff think we are stupid and money is no problem, we have more than them so we will not notice if they small change us or just add a bit more onto the bill! Hell! we are rich british so we dont care if we get over charged, we wont notice because we have plenty of cash!! ...

I watch with anticipation, to see how this season goes. May go back next year when the prices have come to a level for the skiing they offer and when the staff realise we are not there to get ripped off and at the end of the day we pay their wages, no brit holiday skiers, no work.
I do not want to offend any peeps on here with appartments in BG and I know they will shoot me down but shouldnt you lot be doing something about it to protect your investment, have a word with someone in BG rather than have a go at people that put negative posts about BG on here.
I am hoping we can all enjoy our ski trips to Bulgaria. Me thinks we need a time machine to go back 5 years but keeping fingers crossed, the staff will kill it this year and within 2 years it will return to the place we all love.

We do not need a time machine, we only have to avoid rip-off-places.

Hi roland, yes you are right but I fear you will spend the whole of your time trying to avoid the rip-off places and not enjoying your holiday.I wish you luck and hopefully you can report back after your hol and recomend the one place you have found apart from the Alpina.
