im afraid that i have heard stories from clients in my hotel also, they were not happy with the centre,brought a camera which was fake and didnt work from alaska and then a bar tried to charge them too much, they spent the week in the hotel.Please dont buy the cameras as you can always replace money but not the photos

Hi going out on the 3rd from Gatwick to Boro any other scams known to be avoided other than short changing, mobile phone thieves and fake gear ?

(dont know where the rest of my text has gone)... have shocked us. Nevertheless we want to spend our ski holidays there as we love the countryside and its special atmosphere. We made a compromise and booked a nice and cozy hotel in the town of Samokov. I don't dare to write about the price we are going to pay. We willtake a taxi or the minibus to get to Boro. This won't take more time than looking for an acceptable reastaurant with normal prices in Boro.Roland

Some Bulgarians need to seriously take note, stop taking the piss!!Went last new year, had a great time however seriously corrupt undertones put us off going back again.
Everyday we were ripped off, from cab drivers to restaurant staff.
Beautifull place though, excellent ski instructors.

As an owner of an apartment and vistor for the last four years (summer and Winter) i have seen many changes and many of the scams like the ones above - it is very sad and unfortunately a fact of life now.
If you can and you have a car - Eat out of town! Shop out of town!! and check everything you buy.
Pamps has now turned into a true "Resort" and like any other new "Resort" will have its teething problems. At the moment avoid the places mentioned above they are taking the mick - the ...

We never shop in Alaska as everything is 3 or 4 times more expensive than shops in Smolyan! The Old House tried the extra money on the bill scam last year on us - we have never been back! and the White Hart's food and drink prices are just plain foolish!!
If you don't use these places and they will learn - we have also kinda stopped tipping everywhere - just a fact of life and exchange rates have put paid to that.

BTY - The best place in Pamps town to eat and not get ripped off - while enjoying a real Bulgarian night out with fantastic BG food is the BBQ under murgevets hotel.Staff great, menu extensive, prices more or less the same as last year (slight increase on some dishes) entertainment very bulgarian!
What more could you want?????

I agree with some other posts, if not happy or have been scammed avoid them and let everyone know. If you can let the owners know why you, your friends and family won't be visiting their place again. I tend to let them know that I will also spread the word far and wide
