This was stated by Mr Baiko Baikov, who is member of management board of the accosiation of BG tour operators and agents.Total number of booked holidays for Feb are down between 20-30 %.
The biggest fall is from Netherlands(Holland).the fall is so dramatic that the chartered flights have been canceled. Because of the warm weather the foreigners are deciding to go somewhere closer to home.
The picture is this:-Our Bg resorts are relying on artificial snow only.
In some cases the reason is that ski holiday in Austria is cheaper than our country ski places.-continue the article in the newspaper Standart on Saturday.
..The prices for lift cards are already the same as the ones in the alpine resorts but the difference is that in the first case this is a lift pass which allows you to ski over 300km ,in the second case –only 30km.
Interest for the cheaper types of Bg accommodation are showing our neighbors Macedonians and Serbs. They from 2007 though enter BG much more difficult because the visa restrictions.

.....and another one from the same paper:
''Pamporovo has solved the problems caused by the snowless winter season''
Photo StandartCount Dracula and the Bansko gastronomic delicacies wage an uneven battle this snowless winter season. Bulgarian tourists agents have started taking the foreign holidaymakers, who have booked hotels in Bulgarian resorts, to Romania where in the high parts of the Carpathian Mountains they could practice their favourite winter sports. There are good conditions for skiing in some of the Turkish mountainous resorts, as well.
"This is the only way we could compensate the tourists for the snowless ski runs in our country. This reduces our profits, but we keep our regular customers," explained Georgi Georgiev.
For years, he has been training small groups of tourists keen on extreme winter sports. This year their opportunities for entertainment in Bulgaria are practically none and Georgiev searches for alternatives to satisfy the requirements of his guests. He organizes transportation to booked hotels in neighbouring countries, which increases the price of the Frenchmen's and Britons' vacations by 10%.
The Bulgarian tourist firms and the foreigners share the additional expenses. Normally, one-week nightstays with a breakfast and dinner in a Bulgarian hotel stay at some 450 euro per person. The expenses, including the plane tickets, total about 1000 euro.
The foreigners don't complain of the new prices for these are mostly ardent mountaineers, who have planned their vacation about a year ago.
They know that because of the warm weather all over Europe their only alternative is to pay the difference or give .''

Whatever, its still cheaper to go to Bulgaria and be in the hope of snow, than pay twice as much nearly, and go to Austria or France and hope for snow there! (eating out and shopping is also much cheaper in Bulgaria)

The newspaper is right, especially about the unjustifiably high costs of holidaying in Bulgaria and the comparatively poor quality of skiing. For most people, there is more to a skiing holiday than smoking cheap "Vistory" fags and getting sloshed with cheap rakiya.
