Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I was there in December , and two-thirds of the area was shut including both snowparks - however the bit that was open (Klein Matterhorn) was great. Worth getting the full-area pass so you can go down the Italian side to Cervinia and Valtourneche for motorway-style cruising and acres of powder.
Downsides - everything very expensive & limited nightlife, lifts a bit crowded (but perhaps that's because so few were open)

Did I mention I'm going to Bansko on Saturday?

IMT > sorry to ask this here, but I d like some opinions from users that can compare, with Bulgaria for example. I can see a lot of posts that are not related even to ski, so I think you will give me the right to ask comments for this resort. ;o)

Alan > thanks for your answer, I am really dreaming about Zermatt after watching a TV program about the place, with the Glacier Express train. Is the accomodation expensive there ? We are looking for a cheap plan for november there.
And for Bansko I can tell you that you ll have a great time there, this is definitely the best Bulgarian resort, for ski, landscape and authenticity !

Yup, I'm really looking forward to next week in Bansko - never been on the snow in BG, (just the Alps and, er, Scotland) although I've visited in the summer/autumn - been to Sofia, Plovdiv & Burgas.

We got self-catering accommodation - a very nice apartment for 4 cost us about 1000 CHF for the week (including broadband!) - the Zermatt tourist office was very helpful, providing a list of both hotel and self-catering accommodation (including cheaper options than that) - see www.zermatt.ch
Lift pass cost about 150 GBP for 6 days and eating out was expensive.
And it's full of skiers, dude. And Swiss people.
But the lift system is good, the pistes are well maintained and the mountains are beautiful...

Thanks swiss Bg, I know that the prices are high, but in all the resorts you can find cheap accomodation as the main parameter for me is the snow, I found some interesting offers on the websites.
It s probably a resort similar to Courchevel in France, right ? What I appreciate there is that there is no car in the village. This is really great cause I am very angry when I go to Bansko to receive water and mud on the face when I go to the cabins, and there is no sidewalk excepted the road with all the cars..!
