I will not be returning there for another 5 years or so when all building finished. I thought it may of been like Soldeu a couple of years ago. However a thick dust over everything and piles of rocks / no bars / Nothing really for the kids to do spoils it.
We just came back from our first holiday in bulgaria. We stayed at the prespa in pamporovo. Really had a great time, Whilst the prespa is only a 3 star we loved it, it was up a little slpoe out of the way , quiet at night, really nice lobby bar that was never too busy, walking through the perelik it just seemed full of kids running wild. We were just learning to board so the slopes we used were great for us. But as you say all the building going on makes it obvious it won't be quite the same ...

You were in long queues because the womens Europa Cup was taking place - spectators were also going up the gondola lift. This is unusual!!! Also, we were there the same week as you and skied for 3 brilliant days - maybe our standards aren't as high as yours!! As you seem to support bulgaria as a ski/drink destination (reading your past postings this seemsto be the case) I am amazed at your comments about 18-30 elements - we actively opted out of skiing in Pamps after reading comments about ...

I have NEVER supported bar crawls nor would I. Of course people get drunk on holiday - I do quite often, but not in a gang of 40 being led by my tour operator, nor do I kick doors in as happened in the Morgavets last week.
You seem to miss the point of 10,000 properties being thrown up with one Gondala supporting the access to the mountains - and for whatever reason, it still put a big dampener on our visit that we could not ski where we wanted, when we wanted, at a time that suited us ...

The very top of the mountain which contains most of the blacks/reds was only open 1 day the whole week - and that is not a good advert for the resort when the snow cover was perfect.
OK you've had a bad 2 weeks and not managed to be positive about it but I think you're being a bit pedantic now. Not posted for ages as it gets quite boring on here and couldn't remember if I had posted as just julie or julief( i use this different logins for different sites + menopausal bad memory!!) computers don't change your name but several sites need different passwords and logins - and I don't only use this site!! There are others!! Just think you've really let your experience of a very weird week influence your felings about Bansko. We went to Bansko for the first time 5 years ago, pre-gondola time, so we are aware of the changes, but we still had an excellent week ( took 2 19 year olds and 2 25 year olds who are already wanting me to book for next year _ so it can't be all bad). I agree about the overdevelopment but if no-one is buying that means fewer people on the slopes !!
On the contrary julie - I had 2 wonderful weeks but was disappointed in Bansko as a resort. The skiing as I said was very good if not limited which may had been just my bad luck, but nevertheless it showed how vunerable the resort is to lift closures during peak season.
If I went anywhere in the world to ski and could only access the complete mountain for 1 day I would be disappointed - especially as the runs were perfect.
