The Lion is a lovely hotel and 10 mins strole from the gondola. We are staying at the Grand Montana (23-31 Mar) which is next door to The Lion - can't wait . We went the same time last year in a large group which was wicked. Check out my husband's mass wipeout on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN05h9FpW5w.

Hi Mel

Only 5 mins walk from The Lion (on the way to the gondola) is the Friendly Bar - food and drinks are fab - you must try it. Also, after a long days skiing is the Happy End Bar opposite the gondola - it's great for the end of the day drink to discuss your wipeouts plus Fri and Sat's from 10pm they have live bands and go-go dancing.
Another little tip - if you rent your ski gear from the gondola station ski hire shop you get a huge discount on your ski pass.
Hey Mel
I am going on 1st March same hotel if you get time when you return please put up post as to what the Hotel and resort are like. I normally go to Pamps but fancied a change.
Thanks

Friendly bar by the way was the most expensive beer and meals that we had the whole week there - although they were fine, and they do have a decent cup of tea if you are craving one, but we found MUCH better (and better value) food to be had down in the mehanas in the town. Also friendly was the only place where a waiter shortchanged us - more a reflection on the particular waiter than the establishment though I'd say. It was by less than what we were going to tip him anyway, so his ...

I also highly recommend the little tiny donut stall in the middle of the row of timber hut/shops just accross the road from the happy end.
Can also give you directions to our favourite mehana in the centre of town if you are interested. Awesome food.
