1st Timer

My 13 year old boy is going to Pamporovo staying at the Orpheus hotel with his school. Its going to be his first time skiing.
I would like to know how much things cost roughly around the slopes.... Hot Drinks, snacks ....
I will also need to buy him some ski clothing so wheres the best places to buy from.
Sorry if these have been asked loads of times in the past. No doubt i will have lots more questions before he goes in Feb.

Hi Rachel,

I'm not too sure on the cost of food and snacks in pamporovo as I live close to borovets, but as it's his first time I'm sure you won't want to be spending alot on clothes. When my kids first started to ski I got their clothing from sportsdirect.com you can either buy online or at one of their outlets, we had a shop in our town, also TKMAX is a good place to find ski clothing - they both have plenty of choice and name brands without the price tag ! Good Luck I hope he enjoys it !

shops tend only to have stock from late oct/nov onwards.however you may pick up some bargains online at ski sales.
sometimes dependent on were u live u can hire gear.
i would allow 10 pound s for lunch and a fiver for am snack and a fiver for pm snack on the mountain.

Try Edge2Edge.co.uk, they sell off all their ex rental gear from this season, you may get a bargain. Agree TK MAXX is good source, if you have a branch nearby Decathlon is really good value as they make their own products, as phillip said there will not be anything in the major stores until Oct or Nov.
£20-25 per day should be plenty for food and drinks, on my last visit to Bansko I didnt spend more than this each day myself, and that included a couple of beers as well, I think Pamps may ...

Rachel, you could also try Matalan when the time comes. I bought my daughter, grandson and granddaughter named jackets and trousers at very reasonable prices..

Hi Rachel
I went to Bansko in Feb and I can assure you compared to France the snacks and food on the mountain are MUCH cheaper. Hot choc was the most pricey at about £2-£3 each time. You can get a large plate of pasta on the mountain for £2.50 if you know where to go. I think if you pack him up with lots of choc bars from home that he can chuck one of in his pockets each day then he should not need more than £10 a day.

re: 1st Timer

Thanks for all those replies. I will try the sites. I had some carrera googles on Ebay for £3 including the postage so i will be keeping an eye on there . He is going for 7 nights and full board so if i aim to save £200 for him i should be content knowing he has enough on him for snacks and gifts. Good idea about the chocolate bars.
I will get him to write a review when he comes back so that people can get a childs view.
Thanks again.
