1st day in borovets

What a smame,

It's my first time in borovets and can really see the potential, plenty of places to eat and drink and all at a decent price considering the usual mountain prices.

Unfortunately tho the skiing is diabolical. Rila has 2 runs open other than about 3-4 100m nursery slopes. One of the two Eula slopes is almost impossible to ski and the other has had that many people on it ive seen less lumps and bumps on a camel.

Yesterbets 2mora will keep u posted.

Can definately see ...

Can definately see the potential of this place if there was snow.

re:1st day in borovets

To be honest Andrew the Rila runs are normally a bit of a nightmare. They get hammered all day whilst putting up with the sun. Have a look at the webcams for the yastrabets runs, plenty of cannon snow on there and they are generally more fun. Chin up and let us know how you get on up the gondola side tomorrow! Wink

re:1st day in borovets

It's true Andrew we are a bit limited at the moment but you will find it much better on Yastrebets tomorrow. The runs are in good condition and much longer than those in front of the Rila hotel, also it will be less crowded, the weekends get busy, for the locals it is when they are not working and get the chance to ski, a lot of people come up from Sofia. Let us know how you get on.

Fingers crossed, bus from bj's up to tester bets early am.

Honestly tho its a cracking resort it's just the skiing in current conditions has been shocking.

Better luck 2mora

re:1st day in borovets

Looking forward to it with a mix of excitement and trepidation! If the snow doesn't happen I won't have any option other than to ski Yastrebets! And we will all have to hike to George's Bar on foot - well, it will work up a good thirst...

re:1st day in borovets

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
There is also one other advantage to skiing on Yastrebets, the Finishing Line pub at the bottom of the slope. Booze

re:1st day in borovets

Few,

Much better today, only 2 slopes open but at least you can ski them. Don't get me wrong, there is quite a few ice patches and by 2pm it was very bumpy. But never the less we can at least ski. Rila yesterday was a joke but I'm happy we can at Least have a go. Put it this way I'll be able to do these two runs with my eyes shut. Lucky for us we are at flora and the bus stops outside in the morning, early start for us, catch the slopes in the best possible condition.

All good,

Andrew
