to all snowboarders out there, im going boarding in january but never done it before is it a safe idea to take my boots and blades with me i i dont get on also looking for any one going on the 26th of jan in pamporovo..
Might be an idea, but it may give you an easy get-out if you're the type that gives up easily. The first few days of boarding can be a frustratingly steep learning curve and pretty painful too - especially if the conditions aren't that great. I'm sure you'll be fine, I'd say leave 'em at home.
As Nadia says, leave the blades at home. learning to board you'll spend 3 days on your Ar$e but once it clicks you be thankful you kept at it and got through the pain barrier.
Get a good instructor, heard good things about Ilya (?) at Interski Pamporovo
Do yourself a big favour..get some wrist guards and some impact shorts and a helmet, not trying to put you off but if you do fall (which you will) at least they may stop an injury allowing you get on learning to board,as said stick with it past the 1st couple of day and once you have managed to link basic turns you will be laughing
I have to agree with Mr P. I bought my protection gear after a fall on ice. I couldnt sit down for three days. I now wear everything I can get my hands on. Apart from a couple of broken fingers I happily bounce down the slopes and get up to laugh about it.
For some reason though other people dont laugh as much if you are not rolling around in agony holding your ar$e and then limp away like a 90 year old only later to ask a discusted wife to look at the bruise on your hairy bum.
if i were you have lessons before you go at yer local dry slope as this will give you a good insight to what it is all about, and as dry slope boarding is a tad more difficult when you get out on the snow you will rip the mountain up from day one rather than spending 3 days on the nursery slopes.
