OK, I know this has been discussed here before, and I know I should really search through previous postings and try and work this out, but could someone who knows what they're talking about take a look at these radios for sale on ebay and see if they'll do the job ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72405&item=5745754736&rd=1
Any help much appreciated, ...

Any help much appreciated, and if you want to know about Borovets, Pamps, DIN Settings, snowboarding, Star Trek, porn or The Simpsons gimme a shout
They're OK, but not very good. Certainly not worth £65.00. There don't have SUB-CHANNELS. I think this is a must. You can actually muy a range of walkie talkies from Maplins for around £15.00 - perhaps plus VAT.
Carefull on e-bay. Make sure you buy the ones no more that .5 Wat output. Also - be prepared for a 3 week delivery if coming from USA.
The only thing I can see different is that they are not rechargeable which might mean that they eat batteries . Also ours have about 20 different ring tones - wow - really useful (not!).
I would try and get ones with a rechargeable unit since the batteries will probably need recharging after each full day. What you might save in price for these walkie talkies you'll end up spending on batteries, especially seeing as they require 4! If you're wondering what auto-squelch is, it filters out weak signals so you don't receive them. You'd probably be better off switching this off on the mountain so you can pick up faint signals. Also, there's only 14 channels and it's most likely ...

Also, there's only 14 channels and it's most likely you'll get other people using the same channels as they're standard on all walkie-talkies - this can be quite annoying. The ones we all took were these from Argos - http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=126415&clickfrom=name - very very competitively priced, small, durable and they were brilliant and invaluable to a group of 8 of us all week. I must add, it looks like you can only get the 4 pack now. When we bought them they were sold in packs of 2.
Use the search facility as Banknote posted some very useful notes a few weeks ago - just wish I'd read them b4 buying on ebay. My radios arrived yesterday from the USA and took 7 working days to get here. They have a 7 mile range but require a licence, plan to just use them anyway.
Cheers - only 9 working days left until we go to Pamps on 11th.

Ok - looks like I haven't read the instruction booklet for our ones other than the rechargeable battery bit as I had no idea what auto-squelch was until I read the last thread!
Perhaps I should stick to something I know about - thermals!!!!!!!!!!!
