it apears those who want to boycott boro should . and prob will by going else where next .. good bye and good luck .... as for the majority we will continue to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the bulgarian ski resorts
I dont think a boycott is the worry, the 'crunch' is already having an adverse effect, numbers are well down this year, and the people that suffer are the guys paying exhorbitant amounts to hire the bars etc. if less money goes into the resort theres no chance of new investment, and i think the numbers will be even worse next year. The upside is less people on the pistes and lifts
you are right fraser .. i was there last week .. the same week i normaly take and it was very quiet.. the eidelwiss hotel was closed .. i never had to q on lifts ..bars quiet.. was in buzz bar during happy hour .. 11.30 pm and there were about 20 people in of which we were 7.... was talking to staff in happy duck and upto last week his sales were half the usual...
thats right, bansko is a lot quieter than previous years, a lot of buisneses are suffering, the brits arent coming cause of money, bulgarians arent coming cause conditions arent as good as usual this season, we'r getting the warmest winter temps for many years.........
Just skiied the three valeys, all in incl ski pass and ski hire, beautiful apartemnt with direct access to slopes, 550euro, cheaper than last years terrible unforgivebale trip to borovets. Spent 200euro during week, incl dinner out one night, plenty of apres ski drinks in the bars and visited frequently the nightclubs. My skis i hired cost 800 euro new without bindings as i saw them for sale in ski shop.

Bulgaria is not cheap, it is just crap. Why oh why you weirdos throw money into these mafia run resostrs ill never know. The snow is awful, the people are rude, the lift system is archaeic. Value for money you are getting so ripped off in comparison to the Alps. Enough of this crap saying it is cheaper than Alps, its not and just a million times worse
Spot on Vulgaria. I can't understand why anyone would want to go to the same ski resort year after year in any country - isn't it all about variety? I'm in Ischgl where the lift pass (for 5 resorts and 160kms of piste) is 30 euro a day. Hire of 2009 Atomics is 17 euro a day. Bed and breakfast is 70 euro per night. Dinner around 20 euro. OK, slightly more than Bulgaria, but in terms of value for money (what you gets for your buck) much much better. You may have to save a few hundred euro ...

and due to the crunch i think a lot of the regular european resorts will be cutting their prices to get the bums on seats, theres a lesson to be learnt here for Bulgaria, will it be heeded, doubt it very much, as Bulgarian economics are slightly at odds to the norm!!!
on the up side, at least the girls in the strip bars are getting more of a rest
