Very Happy

i am sorry that you had so a bad experience we have just come back from Borrovets and had a fab time. THis was our second visit and we will be returning year after year. our instructor was very nice and all the people we met again very friendly.

Somebody in my husbands group had items stolen and the ski instructor sorted it out straight away with the police as he was also fantastic when somebody broke their leg. My instructor was very young but a nice lad and good fun. dont forget ...

Guys
I cannot believe we were in the same place. My husband and I have just come back after the best weeks holiday eva.
We had a Boro Sport instructor - Kiko, who never asked for money/ excursions and when as a group we decided to tip him at the end of the week he was taken aback and really shy. When we wanted to pay for drinks for him he refused.

We stayed at the Edelweiss, with the only downfall being the 15-20 min walk to resort. We put all valuables in the safe and had no trouble with bags being picked etc..
We did not venture into too many bars. Mainly Funky's and Black Tiger and had nothing but the best service.
You were ripped off for Skidoos though, we paid £30.00 wach for an hour, one each with our First Choice rep.
Dont know if we fell really lucky or you had it really bad but i cannot wait to return.

re: A Week in Borovets

Kizza,

I agree that the Black Tiger was the best service in town, with good food and prices.
We also stayed at the Edelweiss, must have been our floor only. We did not always have hot water or heating all week, it was a bit hit and miss.
We used a safety deposit box all week, except for the Sunday as we got our beginers off to ski school and rental.
The ski instructor constantly hit the group for money, must just be the roten apple in the barrell.

We had a good time besides all the bad stuff. It just could have been better. I have been travelling for 7 years now and this is the 2nd time where I know people have had things stolen.
Maybe it was just our group!

The police, hotels and many of the bars are obviously mafia run-

Pamporovo Pete seems an all round good guy who single handedly does a good job on here. Im not sure if tanjette is part of bulgaria ski but her comments and manner are really good too.
Wouldnt have thought he was a MafiaDon ........however agree that many comments get removed when they dont seem to go with the grain. Ill ask PP to make sure he`s editing the postings- only then will we get an honest message board.

re: A Week in Borovets

What a shame u had a bad experience of Bulgaria.

I have just come back from Bansko - which was fantastic! One of our group has been to the 3 main resorts in Bulgaria and she says Bansko is by far the best! I'm sure if you went to Bansko u would not be put off Bulgaria. The only downpoint is the queues on changover day to get your skis/boots, we were there nice and early though as soon as the place opened, so we were one of the first to be served.

Hopefully you'll have better luck ...

Jay your comments about this site being run by the Bulgarian Mafia are nothing short of rubbish. There have been many negative reports posted on here which are left. The only time Pete or myself delete anything is when they contain loads of swearing or insults to others.
