ANSWER TO A PREVIOUS QUESTION Re: THE WALL

Earlier today there was a question about skiing the Wall in Pamporovo after just 1 weeks lessons.

I have some very good advice on this .......... DON'T!!!!!!

Already this year we have had the sad news of the death in Bulgaria of an inexperienced skier who attemped a Black Run.

Yes by all means have fun, and ski runs that may scare you a little. But the Wall needs the upmost respect and concentration from top to bottom.

It is 1/4 mile sheer drop and should only be attempted by skiers capable of skiing any red run in total control.

I consider myself to be a good skier, and it was 5 years before I attempted the Wall. I have since skied it many times, but it still makes me quiver when I stand at the top.

So PLEASE, lets not have any more silly talk or encouragement for beginners to even consider skiing the Wall until they have the experience or skill to master a very dangerous slope indeed.

re: ANSWER TO A PREVIOUS QUESTION Re: THE WALL

Hear Hear,
last year was my second visit to Pamps, and I actually asked Tosh (my instructor) if he thought I was up to it, when I finished and looked back up, I was shaking like a leaf!!!!

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE WALL

Only experienced skiers should attempt it.

re: ANSWER TO A PREVIOUS QUESTION Re: THE WALL

Personally I learned to ski to black run capability by the end of the week, and did the wall then. I agree that safety is of course a big issue, but we did the run with a great instructor. Skill is essential as is confidence, but fun and adrenaline are also part of the sport. See how u do at the end of the week, and follow your instructors advice!

re: ANSWER TO A PREVIOUS QUESTION Re: THE WALL

Does "4 outta 9" successful not also mean that 5 failed??!?!?

Confidence is one thing, over-confidence (alcohol induced especially) can be dangerous!
