Yep, the First Investment Machines are not accepting them at the minute (Rila Lobby / Outside Rila / Gondola Station and the Biohim Bank opposite Hotel Breza). They hope to solve the problem asap.
As of Feb 2012: I used the ATM in the foyer of the Rila hotel with a NatWest Visa debit card (and took out £100 worth of Leva, other posts have said max £40, but these were old posts), I saw other Brits using the ATM at the Gondola, I seem to remember there being an ATM opp. the gondola as well. There is also an ATM 20M to the left of the Rila hotel entrance (facing the Rila from the Nursery slopes) but it was out of money when I tried it.
Going again next week, and will update any more ...

P.S.Used a couple of the exchange booths and they are all pretty competitive (better rates than NatWest gave me due to charges) especially when you only want to change a small amount. They all take £ and Euro and lots of other currencys.
Hi all, used the cashpoint next to the ticket booth by the gondola station when we were there new year,i used my barclays debit card and withdrew 800 levs in one transaction, much better rate than in uk ,cheers Paul
