Adult entertainment- concern

Me and the wife plus are youngsters Jake and Elwood are heading off to Borovets on the 15th. As i am sure you can appreciate the kids can hardly wait nor could the wife and I, that is until i read a couple of online reviews. What's worrying me is the amount of reviews that state you are likely to be approached by prostitutes and beggars. The beggars is not much of a concern, living in London Jake and Elwood are well used to spurning such approaches, however, prostitues is something that they have never encountered. Is this something i should be concerned about, or is it another mass exageration from people who only ever normally ski in the alps?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could alleviate my fears.

re: Adult entertainment- concern

I have just come back on the 2nd there was 8 of us 4 lads 4 girls and we did not get approached by prositutes at all, so i think someone is talking bull again.

What does happen tho is that there are about 5 or 6 pole dancing bars and the blokes who stand outside try to get you inside but this is no different to all the other bars or restaurants vying for business.

Beware the strip club promoters wont hesitate to ask you to come inside even when you are walking by with your wife and ...

I have the same worry Jens, I have also heard you are approached with leaflets advertising strip shows. So I would also appreciate it if anyone can give us any information. I am going to Borovets on Saturday with my husband and 3 daughters.

You live in London, and you are concerned about Bulgarian prostitutes Confused

Right, firstly yes all resorts do have ladies of the night there. They do not appear until fairly late at night, and never approach people. If you are not activley looking for one you probably wont even notice them.

They do not flaunt themselves nor do they cause any embarresment to families.

This will be my 13th winter visit, so please be assured that there will be nothing to worry about.

I would back Pete up, have been to Borovets, Pamp and Bansko and you would not even notice them (prostitutes) unless you actively looked for them.

As far as beggars go, I saw one once in Borovets (as opposed to the twenty or so I see daily in London) Confused

Oh, are there prostitutes in Borovets, Pamps etc. I didn't notice any in the last two seasons whilst I've been there - mind you, I didn't go looking for them.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly and with such positive news. I certainly wont be doing any searching, so the news that they are not easily found is greatly appreciated.

I know it seems silly to worry about these issues, especially with the likelihood that Jake and Elwood are more likely to cause harm to themselves when actually skiing, it's just that they are at curious ages which boys get to. I know it seems silly to worry about these issues, especially with the likelihood that Jake and Elwood are more likely to cause harm to themselves when actually skiing, it's just that they are at curious ages which boys get to. Infact, I actually worry a little about Jake [going threw his rebel stage at the moment] especially with prices rumored to be as little as £30 pounds, which is only the equivalent of 5 hours work for Jake at the restaurant he works at on Saturdays.

I do have one further concern and it is these 'stripbars', do these bars let anybody in? Is there an age restriction like in England? Because Jake looks a lot older than his age and I don’t want to seem over protective and swamp him on his first family holiday in a long time by not letting him go out. Because the worrying thing is - I am pretty sure he will go to them if the opportunity arises.

Sorry to sound like an old fuddy duddy but I sometimes fail to keep track in these liberal times.

Don't worry Jens...have a great trip

Having been to Borovets loads of times Pete is exactly right.
You will only notice the ladies if they are pointed out. They usually sit in the Rila bar, about 4 of them, drinking coffee and walking around now and then. I have only ever seen one lady get business and that was at about 4am and very discrete.

As for beggars I think there is one in Borovets. He's a young lad aged about 12 who stands just down from the main entrance to The Rila. He carries a small cup and says the words 'Papa', or something similar to walkers by. London and most other British towns are much worse!!
