Will buy some funky fleece and sit and whiz up some pockets for you. Microwave the bags for 2-3 mins, and every 4 or 5 times put a glass of water in the microwave with them and it stops the rice from perishing. Will put some embroidery threads in too to oversew the filing whole (easier to unpick when the rice needs changing next year).

With the guides on winter camps we fill HWB early and get them to put them in their sleeping bags a couple hours before bedtime, jarmies on top, and fold sleeping back over. Oh LOVELY and cosy, you can get to sleep whilst you are still warm. Very Happy Very Happy

I am not sure if rice will stay warm for long enough.

Also, the material must be cotton, nothing man made.

Have a look at :

Fair point about the rice - it stays warm for about 40 mins, enough to warm a bed or jarmies. Fleece, though, it defo synthetic - I didn't know it needs to be cotton. I think I have some heavy cottons in my stash. But it doesn't help if you can't fill them. Very Happy

re: Amanda - Just a thought.

hi amanda,

silly question but if us tourists could do one thing to help you, what would it be?. We all go to BG to save money so we should all have something left to do with.. If we all drank one less vino rosso and gave it away, where should we do with it?

Wouldn't it be great if everybody donated a £1, or £10 or £100...... Very Happy

re : wheat bags. The problem is that they are heavy to transport and quite expensive to buy but if many of us could take out a few.

Have a look at this website above, it gives all the safety bits etc.

re: Amanda - Just a thought.

i think its a great idea... What if PP could sort you out a t-shirt so we all knew its you and then you could post a string each week telling us where you will be and when..

PPS, if you or PP on your behalf opened a paypal account on your behalf could we pay into that from the UK?

re: Amanda - Just a thought.

Amanda and Doug already have their t-shirts - all wrapped around a bag of mini CC eggs. If the BACS has been instructed, I'll get them posted tomorrow (Easier to sneak things in the work post on Fridays!)

Amanda, you state you can get a Microwave, get a Large jug, fill with water and you can then fill 4 conventional Water Bottles with Hot Water. F.V.
