Hi wash-depends at what time in the ski season you go but generally some thermals, lightweight fleece or polo neck ,ski socks-as beginners you may stand around a bit for the first couple of days.A neck fleece is good to pull over your face on chair lifts or if it is snowing. Evening clothes tend to be casual unless you are clubbing til dawn.Boots with a good grip are essential-standard walking boots are fine-icy paths are lethal-I have done more damage slipping over on the pavement than ...

Wear your ski jacket and boots for travelling -I don't bother with any other coat other than my ski jacket. I have a ski check list for my packing which I hand out to family who are going- if you email me I would send it to you-it has been ok for many years of sking. You don't need to spend a fortune if you start hunting for bargains early. It is debatable whether you buy a helmet-I always wear one as I did bump my head on a couple of times-you may want to hire one for the first time or maybe borrow one.Hope this helps!

Hi Wash,
Echo all of what Thelma said.
Which resort are you staying at ? there are plenty of people on here who can give you some good advice.
You will find that over 90% of people carry ski jackets onto the plane, as Thelma said it is the only jacket you need.
As for layers, it varies depending on the weather, but as a rule I use thermal base layer with a normal base layer on top, but if really cold ( minus 15 or more ) a fleece on top of the thermal. I would advise a helmet, does not ...

I would advise a helmet, does not have to be expensive, take a neck warmer and you can pull that over our chin.
We are of to Borovets 26th Jan.
First time skiing eh, fantastic, watch out though its addictive!!!
Never underestimate the need for a good pair of ski socks and if you are hiring boots then take some shoe deodorant. Helmets are a must these days and frankly i'd get some goggles rather than sunglasses or take both
I bought my helmet from ebay for £25 inc postage, its probably the best purchase i've made for my winter holidays. I had a bad fall the first year i was in Borovets and now i wouldn't ever board without one.
I wear a thermal layer, thin layer and jacket. If it's really cold a fleece type top. Nice thick ski socks and some good gloves!! I also wear a snood to pull over face when its really cold or when im on the ski lifts.
I agree with just taking your ski jacket, although i do take a ...

I agree with just taking your ski jacket, although i do take a hooded top to wear at night, the bars normally have a roaring fire so you'll be nice and warm!
I've just bought some timberland boots to wear at night, falling over semms to happen after a few beers and rakia
