been to borovets for the last 2 years running and can't wait to go again on saturday. however, am being my usual worrying self and getting totally paranoid reading the snow-forecast.com 6 day reports that say rain and above freezing temperatures for the lower station and no snow for top of the mountain. i'm not too worried for me but i have managed to persuade three friends who are beginners to come and figure they won't be able to learn on grass!!
can anyone out there ...
hey there
been to borovets for the last 2 years running and can't wait to go again on saturday. however, am being my usual worrying self and getting totally paranoid reading the snow-forecast.com 6 day reports that say rain and above freezing temperatures for the lower station and no snow for top of the mountain. i'm not too worried for me but i have managed to persuade three friends who are beginners to come and figure they won't be able to learn on grass!!
can anyone out there please allay my fears for me otherwise i'm going to have no fingers left by the time we fly!!
When we left yesterday morning it was tipping down with snow, so I wouldn't worry yourself!!!!
It will be fine, the lower runs were getting worn late last week but it snowed on the tops all days Saturday and then all night at low level. This was expected for 3 days or so, so chill and you'll have a great time!
I'm off the week after you so I'm sure there will be snow - in fact I asked PP to make sure that he shipped over some of the stuff he had in Pamps in January.
I came back on saturday after spending a week there. It's true that the temperatures are above freezing at the lower station (on one of the days it was 11 degrees!!). However, this did nothing to spoil the conditions at all. There's a little bit of ice on some of the lower runs but they tend to get the snow cats out at night and rake up the snow for the morning. As for the top of the mountain (up the gonola) the snow was fantastic.
We had heard bad reports before we went, but put it ...

We had heard bad reports before we went, but put it this way...I started as a relative beginner and by the end I was parallel skiing down red runs and even part of the black runs!! No complaints here!!
disagree about the conditions in Borovets - I was there last week.
there was virtually no snow all week but it was nice skiing weather. fortunately there was enough accumulated snow to keep us going although the temps were warm so at the end of the week, the snow was either slushy or icy or missing in a few places! at the top of the mountain it was still good but was deteriorating fast, one slope had rocks and earth all over it - a lot of snow is needed now!
Ive learnt over the years wherever I go, that weather forcasts are not reliable, thats why this site can be more informative, the weather forcast before i went out early January was poor, and reported conditions as deteriorating. when I got there everything was fine and it dumped it down with snow, making conditions excellent.
I went on the ski club of great Britain site and they reported only a few lifts open when in fact they were all open!
keeping my fingers crossed still though!
