I am trading up to a new pair of boots and would appreciate any feedback / advice please.
I am UK 9.5 shoe size and have been wearing 280-285 (Mondo) ski boots. Just wondering if I should be considering something a little longer (285-290)for a bit of extra movement or should they be a sung fit? ...By the way, I am an intermediate skiier.
Boots need to be snug in order to maximise the interface between your feet and the ski (via the bindings). Best advice - get yourself to a good bootfitter with a good reputation and let them advise you. everyones feet are different and what suits you will not suit someone else. For my point of view Lockwoods of Leamington Spa or go and see Colin at www.solutions4feet.com who are in Bicester. If you let us know where you are geographically Im sure others will have recommendations as well.
Choose carefully and choose the right boots for you - not the best looking ones. Ensure they are heat fitted to your own feet, that is the inners are heated for a few minutes until the are soft and supple. Then you put them on as they cool down. The inners will then form around your feet and the perfect fitting is achieved.
Had this done at Snow and Rock and the result was perfect.
Hi Oldieski,
can recommend Lockwoods of Leamington Spa, superb, expert fitting and remoulded the shell for me 10 months after purchase.
Lockwoods technicians will not sell you an ill fitting boot, as they know it's bad business, so go with about £250 and let them do the rest.
Proper fitted boots are essential to get the most fun and enjoyment from a week on the slopes.
I live on the Isle of Man and we don't have ski equipment shops, we only got a McDonalds here 10 years ago lol!! Is there anywhere in Borovets that I can purchase new pair of boots and have them heat fitted as this will be ,y 3rd time skiing and really want to invest in a pair of boots rather then hire them. Me and my family fly out to Borovets on 20th Feb.
lol yeah I know, how lucky are we over here!!! phew lol.
Lived here since 1988 and just thought itwas for the summer season and the I never went back. Any thoughts on where to purchase some ski boots ib Boro?
I'd strongly recommend you don't buy in resort as you'll need to wear them a bit to let them bed in and then have any adjustments made. Saying that, I got my boots in Seattle but there was enough time to get them fitted, try them out, and make adjustments. This process takes about 6 hours in total. You need someone who can mould the shell, not just stick the hair dryer into the new boots and as far as I am aware there is no-one in Bulgaria who does this. You also want a boot fitter who ...

You also want a boot fitter who speaks your language so you can effectively communicate how they feel. And definitely invest in the 100 quid custom foot beds.
result - my 600 USD boots get me through 50 days skiing a season without even the slightest discomfort
thanks for the advice, wish i had your boots, they must feel like gloves )
its a shame that there isn't anywhere in Boro that could help me with this as I am ded keen on buying a pair of boots.
