Just a note of warning, we stayed in the Perelik Hotel for the past week, receptionists are the most rude we've ever met, the rooms are a disaster, like a greenhouse every night, although the Mexaha restaurant was a surprise, very cheap and the best we ate in over there.
No point in complaining to receptionist as everything is answered with a shrug of the shoulders! Also, keep all receipts in this hotel as we were charged twice for the safety deposit box, no hope of discussing this with ...

No point in complaining to receptionist as everything is answered with a shrug of the shoulders! Also, keep all receipts in this hotel as we were charged twice for the safety deposit box, no hope of discussing this with receptionist, again a shrug of the shoulders! Overcharged for the miny bar, argue?? shrug of the shoulders!
24 hour bar is a bonus as is the Apres Ski bar for a couple of drinks, but check your receipts come the end of the nuight as we noticed that the bar men chance their arm and start adding on a few Levs , and when you bring this to their attention they are just dying to argue with you, then they suddenly disappear for the rest of the night...a great ability for a dodgy bar man.
Skiing was a bit of craic once we got a bit of snow during the week, and ignore the webcam on Bulgariaski, it is actually a lot better at the top, not great but a lot better.
One last thing and I'll stop moaning, was it just us or is Plovdiv airport the worst place on earth???
I think the lack of snow put a dampener on everything last week, with snow nothing seems so bad... I have never heard so many people complaining in Bulgaria.... in the murgavets people were walking in the restaurant taking one look at the food and just walking out - the restaurant staff were not sure if to find it rude or funny.... the food was fine in my opinion...
Balgriggen did you complain to the reps about the perelik?
Its been a few years since i've been to Bulgaria but my theory is this:
Bulgaria is cheap to go and cheap whilst your there, its an ex communist country and the people are starting to get used to tourisim on a larger scale.
Talking of the people, they are warm and friendly we found.
So just enjoy your holiday and as all things in life enjoy what you have...
a very unfortunate experience u hav had. i normally find bulgarians very friendly and helpful.
if u had complained to ur rep r hotel manager i am confident problems would have been addressed
We stayed in the Perelik in January 2005 and enjoyed the hotel. The hotel is close to a bus stop, as plenty for the nightlife and food is not too bad.
OK it is warm, but then again would you want to be cold.
As of your comments about Plovdiv I think you are very harsh on it. OK it may not be like some of the ones we have in the UK - but then again you have no queues.
Anyone visiting Pamporovo and staying in the Perelik my wife and I both enjoyed the stay there.
We have stayed at the Perelik twice now; first time no choice last time and this feb it is our choice, We have always found the staff to be very helpful and polite.
If the rep could be found we would have complained, when we tried to complain at reception we were told that the manager was asleep and would not listen to our complaint, seemed to sum up the staff overall.
I think I was being very understated when it came to Plovdiv, I have been to many airports around the world, including ex communist countries, and it is the worst we have ever experienced, not just our group, but apparantly most people on our flight.

we visited Pamporovo with an open mind as we have visited former communist countries and for example, if you compare the service standards with that of Hungary (not just Budapest, but rural areas too) there is no comparison. Again, this wasnt just our groups feelings but the feelings of a lot of different people we met.
Whinge whinge whinge. I have stayed in the Perelik on several occasions and return on the 3rd. It is a good central point and the food has improved over the years. This is an emerging country who are not used to wstern cuisine ( suprised he did not complain about the size of the baked beans served at breakfast in the Perelik as well) For me you can not go wrong in staying at the Perelik
