BOROVETS 10TH JAN - UPDATE

Morning...

Where do I start....?? It must be much easier for those that are 'making up' the conditions out here as at least they can put a positive spin on things...I suppose the one positive is that is is beautiful blue skies and the sun is shining....
Nothing has really changed from the last 2 days, except there is even less snow and it is wetter, due to the fact it was raining in Boro earlier.
Yastrebets 2 and 3 are open again (they shut yesterday afternoon due to winds) but snow ...

Nothing has really changed from the last 2 days, except there is even less snow and it is wetter, due to the fact it was raining in Boro earlier.
Yastrebets 2 and 3 are open again (they shut yesterday afternoon due to winds) but snow conditions are not great, it is all melting and snow cannons are not working. Borosport is still running the free shuttle to and from the 4 man chair.
Gondola is open but for walkers only as is the Sitnyakovo Express. Again, some people are trying to ski down from the gondola, but it is extremely dangerous and not recommended at all.
At the moment, just the 1 drag in front of the Rila is open. Iglika is still closed as it stands but is expected to open as these 2 slopes are the only ones available to beginners and although it was icy at 8am, it has already softened up due to high temperatures...it is already 4 degrees at resort level. They think by this afternoon, the rila slopes will be very slushy and practically un-skiable, but that is just 'guessing' rather than fact.
Will update you all later, although I'm not sure if you really want to read these updates anymore!!

re: BOROVETS 10TH JAN - UPDATE

Hi Kas,

thanks for the information, helpful and honest as ever.

Am wondering how many books I can pack in my bag for the 23rd ?

Will remain positive and will have a great holiday, even if we don't see one snow flake.

re: BOROVETS 10TH JAN - UPDATE

Iglika drag is now open as well, but sun has gone and it is misty and humid with slight rain.... they will take people over to Bansko (for a fee) but if you read Steve C's comments on the posting about snow in Bansko it doesn't seem any better / worth going over there.

re: BOROVETS 10TH JAN - UPDATE

Am Reading other posts which are optimistic about this week quoting falling temps and more snow this week. Reality just doesn't seem to indicate any change likely. Really disappointing but appreciate the candour of the updates .

re: BOROVETS 10TH JAN - UPDATE

Any suggestions for something to do that does not involve snow?

Alan, really hope the posts about the snow coming are correct. I'm rubbish at forecasting, so simply tell it how it is as don't want the responsibility of 'predicting'..!! Everything crossed for you all that the online forecasts etc are all correct!

Kas

Thank you for the updates. Regardless of the conditions, we start getting everything ready today, coming over on 16th and can't wait.

Hope i'm not lugging the ski's and boots out to Bulgaria just for a change of scenery. Doing snow dance every day and fingers are crossed.

Its started snowing, very lightly, here on the UK South Coast.....

Kas
you can't be blamed for the conditions and I am sure everyone agrees with me that you have been a diamond throughout. We will come and have a great holiday regardless. If you and better half still in resort we would live to buy you drinks next week. You're reports have been thorough professional and , most importantly, really honest.

Bringing factor 10. Might get a tan at this rate lol
