Morning All,
Well...it snowed most of last night and it is still snowing this morning albeit lightly. First forum meet last night, Bobby finished at 3am and then had to get the car dug out by Borosport bulldozers this morning to get back to Samokov so we could do the shopping...!!
Anyway, onto conditions...believe it or not, the Markudjik slopes have been closed ...it is very misty and windy at the top, so that side of the mountain is shut off, even though there is more snow than we have had in 10years out here...It says on the Borosport website that Marky 1 and 2 are open, along with the Mussala path but it is NOT TRUE and they have fenced it off from the top of the gondola and it is being manned by the ski patrol...
On the Yastrebets / Fon Fon side - all open and everything in absolutely perfect condition with everything being pisted....
On the Rila side, again everything is pisted and in excellent condition...george's run is the best it has been for 3 seasons, the Sitnyakovo runs are all excellent and for the first time in 2 seasons, the Martinovi Black is open. Saying that, due to all the work they did on this run in the summer (widening it / reducing the gradient etc) Bobby thinks it is no longer a Black and is now a red...
Still snowing and I can see us stuck here again tonight at this rate...
Will keep you posted if the mist clears and they open up the other side of the mountain...
They have said this morning that they may close the lifts again at lunchtime as there is supposed to be another power cut...how they know there is going to be a powercut is anyone's guess...but will keep you updated on this and it's still snowing!!
What time do you get in? We can ask one of the drivers we use to come and pick you up - it;s around 80lev 1 way, or we can book you on a transfer with one of the companies - they charge 63euro return transfer?
Hi,
Yes, it is amazing how they can forecast a power outage after they have sold the morning tickets. Just like yesterday. In fact, they were still selling tickets as they were clearing the lifts after being open for only an hour. And of course, no refunds. I really don't think yesterday's outage came as a surprise, either. Just an excellent money-making opportunity.
