I go away to London for 1 day and look what happens...
Yesterday was the best snow of the season so far and snowed on and off, medium to heavy for 24 hours. It has stopped snowing but there are snow clouds in the sky, although we all know not to predict anything.
But...the news you've all been waiting for (and far more interesting than my waffle above!) is that Markudjik 1, 2a and 2b are open, as is Yastrebets 1 - all for the the first time this season. There is about 20 ...
Hi Guys,
I go away to London for 1 day and look what happens...
There is about 20 cm fresh snow at resort level and about 40cm fresh snow at the top.
The 4 man (rila) is still broken. I think someone reported this yesterday, but basically a bearing has gone and it will take 3 to 4 days to get the part. The Martinovi slopes are open, but you need to go up the Sitnyakovo 4 man and then cut across to these slopes.
So...so summarise, lifts (and conditions) are below....
Yastrebets 1, 2 and 3 open - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS on all 3 slopes
Gondola open and run down to Yastrebets - VERY GOOD conditions.
Nursery at top of gondola is open - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
Markudjik 1, 2a and 2b are open, 3 is shut, but hey, it's better news than all season.... - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
MUSSALA PATHWAY - open - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
Rila, glika and yanakiev (Rotata) drags open - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
Rila 4 man chair is broken but Martinovi 1, 2 and 3 are open, you have to cut in half way down....(both red) skiable - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
Sitnyakovo Express - open - GOOD CONDITIONS
Let me know if you need anything else....and keep dancing...!
Forgot to say - the 'conditions' part has come via operators who have already skied them, but other half is on way up now to the Markudjik slopes and I'll update you if there is any change / conditions are not as he has been told....
Sorry, one more update which I forgot to put above...(came back last night, rather than today, but didn't get in until 4am and very tired - keep forgetting what other half told me and have to keep ringing him back....!)
The only runs which are closed are:
2 blacks on the Rila side and Markudjik 3 - all other runs are open, including all the Sitnyakovo runs (again, first time this season) as is the Fon Fon (black from Yastrebets to gondola mid-way station)
Hopefully, I have ...

New Update - Markudjik 3 is only closed due to too much soft snow...!!?! They are waiting for it to go down a bit and then are looking to use a piste basher on it tonight with a view to opening it tomorrow... As always, don't know if that will happen, but will let you know tomoz...

I really can't believe I'm reading this - well actually I can.
It's about time Borosport got their act together. Most people have 6 days skiing. 3-4 days to repair one of the most important lifts is outrageous. How can Borovets hope to improve its reputation when things like this are allowed to happen? I have never seen a lift out for ...

I have never seen a lift out for more than a few hours in any other resort I've skied (and there's quite a lot of those).
This is not critizing your statement Christine but within my work some of my job is to maintain our machinery on a very large site. Our biggest problem which has developed over the last few years is that suppliers do not carry parts as they used to and we often have to wait and where the machines are not made in this country ship them in from around the world. This is not a defence of Borosport as you will see in a previous post I gave them a real slating but is a sorry fact that in this ...

Kas.Thanks very much for the providing the sigh of relief to those of us going out this coming weekend. Especially if they get the Rila 4 man working. I'm with you Jase. You win some, you lose some.I had 4 days cancelled in Bansko due to wind(the weather kind, nothing to do with the food )
