Bulgaria Ski discussion board

This is actually the second day back, i was not even human yesterday, 24 (27 actually) peaks, in 48 hours 140 km of piste 18.5 km of vertical drop 42 of us raised over 80 grand for scope. There is NO WAY ON EARTH i will do this again , sheer bloody torture, but and i do apologise for this, as a commited Borovets fan, Bulgaria is now a lifetime away from Austria. I know Iknow carp carp, seriously i havent been to anywhere else for the last six years, but the 'Saalbach/Hinterglem region must have as many runs as the whole of Bulgaria put to gether, the pistes were fantastic, the snow was great and all new lifts mainly gondolas and 6 man chairlifts, lift passes that work in 'proximity' to the gate no trying to stick the damn thing in the slot, no manky wooden t bars with tight narrow tracks (yastrebrets2/3) toilets that dont require gas masks, streets that dont require experience as an ice dancer, and runs so clearly marked a blind skier could get down. SSSSOOOOOOOOO i know Bulgaria is a cheap option and i know its fantastic for begineers, but i must reluctantly agree that for a real decent ride its not up there. If Bulgaria is going to compete they will have to spend millions on upgrading everything. I shall be returning next year as i have loads of friends in Borovets, but im going to be doing a second week in Austria as well, cause whilst i was not far off total exhaustion, i could really appreciate the quality. ( oh and as for ski hire well f**k me the Atomic Skis and bindings i got were so new and so good i was body carving like a nutter!)

I know what you meen about the boots and bindings. Last week in Pamps I was glad to see that I got a nice new set of Orion Carvers. But then dismayed that they still had the crap bindings and rubbish old boots. The first ski I had the binding was loose so changed it on second day.On my last day I had just come off a blue and was walking up to a cafe when my foot lifted out of the binding. Odd I thought then looked behind me the whole back part had completly lifted off! Screws and everything!! I agree that they really do need to spend some serious dosh as the equipment is still naff. I will be buying the complete set next time I go. I dont suppose Bulgaria will ever catch up with the rest of the world shame really but I still love the place even with all it's little C*** up's!

Ps Even Andorra has decent Ski's bindings and boots!!!
