Hi Bazza...
Staying at the Perun 19th march on, how far from the lift are we??, have they a reasonable bar/restaurant in the hotel??, have they a pool or sauna/jacuzzi??
What time do the lifts open/close??, is there a restriction on the time you can return to the hotel at night??, have they got storage for skis/boots overnight??..

Restrictions as to the time you can return to the hotel, i do not want to stagger back to discover doors closed and having to contact some night porter to get back in.. Your description sounds great, one little thing about booking, i had originally booked for the 28th March staying at the Bansko flying out of Manchester, due to overbooking of flights etc they were unable to offer me anything till 19th March. The Peran was a free upgrade and i am now flying from a more local airport. For all that i would have been there now in all that glorious snow, i don`t really mind because i prefer later skiing but am i really that lucky ???
Still again like you say it sounds like a fantastic hotel, keep trying my friend.

Yes Steve you are lucky.

This moment is snowing in Bansko bringing another 60-80 cm of snow. In fact it's snowing all over Northern Greece, too. We are 3 hours driving to Bansko from Thessaloniki.

No time restrictions in the hotel. This hotel is a 4-star, it's quite big, it's beautiful and believe it, they have construct it in only 9 months. Last March it was just a field. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it in December. Gondola is 7 minutes walk by foot. But they have every half hour a ski bus going there in 2 minutes.

Wait till you see the new Kempinski hotel by the gondola, a 5-star. I think it"s opening on 15/3/05. They built it in 10 months.

Have a nice time there. I was there last weekend and will be again on 11-14 of March.

I think I can answer these for you. Was there end of Jan.
1) Hotel is about 400m from lift. About 10min walk but the hotel has buses every 20mins or so.
2) There are 2 bars. Piano bar upstairs, main bar my reception. Main resturant on first floor and a mehana in front of the main enterence.
3) two swiming pools. Indoor and outdoor. The outdoor is heated to about 40degrees and is very nice. Steam room sauna in the basement and a jacuzzi in the court yard.
4) No time limit when you have to be back in the hotel at night.
5) Ski and boot storage just of the basement carpark. It's heated to dry boots overnight.
6) Gondola opens at 8.30 and last one back at 6pm.

Think that covers everything. Great hotel.

The last entry just about says it all. There are no restrictions whatsover in the hotel although you will probably be too knackered to stay out all night. The hotel really is the business. I stay in Edinburgh and have been to a few beautiful hotels and this is up there with them. The facilities are excellent although the evening meal is very poor. Eating out is a must though because it is very cheap. The bar within the hotel is expensive (about £1 for a botle of beer) although there are a few mehanas closeby (about 5mins walk) which sell a bottle of beer for 1 lev (about 30p). There is a lot of building work between the Perun and the Gondola but this did not effect us at all.

Bulgaria is amazing and I would visit Bansko again in a minute. The snow is gorgeous and it was tipping down on Sat and when we left on Sun. The views from the pistes are out of this world on a clear day and I wish I was back thee.
