We stayed in the 3* Avalon Hotel, B&B, and flew with Czech Airlinesfrom Manchester, which I accept was a 5 hour flight instead of 3.5 hrs. The hotel arranged our transfer from Sofia and reccommended the intersport shop about 100 yds from the gondola for our equipment, which we got sorted on Saturday night, thus saving hassle next day as we only had our lift passes to queue for. The total cost of this was £923 for the 2 of us during the schools half term.

If I had booked the 3* Hotel & Apartments Banderitsa the total cost would have been £1597. Again I accept that it is hard to compare hotels but we had no complaints whatsoever about the Avalon, and James and Vanya, the owners, went out of their way to help everybody.
My main worry before we went was that our luggage would not turn up at Sofia, but thankfully everything was OK. Hope this helps, but if you have any questions feel free to ask. Mal
Chris - an excellent report - you have taken the words right out of my mouth!! I came back on Saturday and I too was staying in the Perun - a return visit for me having been there the same week last year for the 1st time when I fell in love with Bansko and the Perun (and of course their breakfasts!).

Glad you had such a great time. I had a fab week though wish the weather had been a little better in terms of sun etc. Off to Boro this coming Saturday not having been there for some 12 years so will be interesting to compare although I think Bansko will always be my greatest love.
I was there the same week but Sat to Sat, could not get up the lifts first day, I think due to Bulgarian and Greek national holidays and the usual rush with ski tickets etc.
Had a great time but that week was definately the busiest I have encountered in five trips. I hope this was a one off due to a 'high' week and does not represent the new norm.
Well I've just paid £1,600 for two of us for 2 weeks, 1 week in Bansko, 1 in Pamporovo, half board in 4* hotels, lift passes, flights, transfers, ski carridge, and a rep on hand to sort any problems.
I'd prefer to pay the extra and stay in a top hotel and let someone else worry about getting me there.
Lift passes issued in hotel reception so no queuing.
