A great report and i enjoyed every minute reading it.
Its a shame really as i've booked to go back to Pamps in feb '05 but will go to Bansko in '06 for sure, i'm convinced now i've read your report!

Cheers guys, its great reading about your holiday stories,
I'm still missing the snow and the feel of the board strapped to me feet!
I had a lesson at Milton Keynes on Friday, but sad to say that it just wasn't the same!!

Great report, Jason and Ally, think everything in it was pretty fair. Was great skiing with you guys, have just got my photos back, and the ones from our snow fight while waiting for the will it/won't it make it bus ride just make me laugh!

The hotel Pirin where we stayed was lovely, and didn't have any complaints with it. The food there was pretty good, rooms were all what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel even by western european standards, and mine had a gorgeous view of the mountains ...

The hotel Pirin where we stayed was lovely, and didn't have any complaints with it. The food there was pretty good, rooms were all what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel even by western european standards, and mine had a gorgeous view of the mountains from the balcony. The Pirin is closer to the centre, right by Tsar Simeon square, so handily placed for amnesia and our favourite mexana, we christened 'The Goat's Head Tavern' (actually called chevemeto, right next to the bungee jump) where they do a fantastic whole roast piglet.

The whole week was a fantastic introduction to both skiing and bulgaria, and I'll definitely be going back next year to crack the rest of the blue runs and see if I can discover the rest of the mountain, before hopefully going on to see what else Bulgaria has to offer. will be interested to hear your comparisons next year!

Bearing in mind this year was supposedly a trial year for Bankso it was absolutely amazing, and can only get even better in the future, definitely worth checking out in my (admittedly uninitiated) opinion!

Hi Hannah

Glad to see you made it back to England safely, hope the rest of the Essex gang are well.
Thanks for posting and impressed to see that you have got your photos back already - missing you all so much - I think the week in Bansko was made by having great people to ski with, laugh with and share so much with.

You must try to post the photo if you can someplace. I know the snowball fight was good fun would be delighted to see the photographic result.

Hope you stay in ...

re: Bansko - pleasure all round

We got back on saturday too. very sad, everything you say about Bansko was spot on, with the exception of your experience with the ski school. My 2 girls were booked for 4 hours per day, they had an instructor to themselves for the week, and in general had more than the 4 hours with the instructor offering to take my husband and I a tour of the best off piste runs for boarders!! we will definately go back to Bansko, I hear they are flying from Glasgow next year!!!! :

Hey there, gotta say that's a great writeup !!

Also glad you both came out of it enjoying the whole week even though it was a little frustrating at times (I still can't sprint without falling flat on my face Neutral) !

My photos went in today and won't be ready till the weekend but hopefully there'll be some good bum boarding pics in there. I think you missed that didn't you but it was good fun even after getting snow up my salopets and finishing the last day with a cold wet ass !

I'd like to add that the tour of Sophia was pretty good though I think the guide hadn't had much practice and lacked a little "gloss" but that didn't spoil the tour in any way. I really didn't realise how much in the way of Roman ruins the city has till now and if its shopping you want the shops are plentiful but not particularly cheap so don't expect to bring back a arm full of bargains.
Highlights of the tour were the 1st big church which I'm sorry I can't remember the name of. Very nice anyway, catholic I think with a massive vaulted centre and beautiful murals on the walls. Though of course the highlight of the day was McDonalds at the end but it was a little busy Very Happy

The video of the week ended up in my brothers luggage and he headed home to Nottingham with it so I haven't seen it yet ! Anyway, he's back at the weekend for a birthday party so I'll make sure he brings it with him and I'll pass on any comments. I'm particularly interested in what they have to say about the town....

Well, that's me done... you've a Yorkshire defect living in Essex to thank for me finding the site so blame him ! Wink

Bye for now
Daz
