Hi all,
I'm going on my first skiing trip ever, and I'm really excited!! Just wanted to share! Going on the 12th to Bansko, staying at hotel Perun. We have lessons booked through Crystal Ski, and I'm expecting my legs to be killing me as I've been told to work out and prepare, but have done nothing in preparation! oops!

Oh yes! Large group of Bansko Vets and virgins arriving on the 13th.Will be in the Irish Pub and the Friendly bar most nights
Food in the hotels tends to be not as good as in the local Mehanas don't know why just the way it is. As for veggie well plenty of salads, Pizzas etc available in town, but your Half board option may be more limited. Anyone else help with this?
Anything else you want to know or if you fancy saying hello whilst in Bansko just shout. We don't bite honest
Went on my first ski holiday last year to Bansko, I had a great time, didn't think I'd get anywhere with the skiing but must say the lessons were great, was flying come the end of the week.
Manisha, it's usually 2nd or 3rd day your legs will really feel sore but keep with it, it's worth the pain. I didn't stay in Hotel Perun so I can't comment but there are lovely Mehanas in the town, there is a lovely restaurant at the crossroads coming down from the gondola in the town but can't recall ...

Have a great trip. I'm heading to Boro this Sunday so hopefully i'll have as good a week as I did in Bansko last year
yep we stayed at the Perun few years back..food was ok,but not sure now.....anyway venture out as food in the restaurants(mehana's) is much better...also the Perun has a mehana which is the round building next to it which you go down the stairs to...again been in there once and it was a few years back...
you will have a free shuttle bus to the gondola everyday...but Peruns not too far away although you would probably not want to walk it in ski boots....
overall the hotel is a well run ...

overall the hotel is a well run hotel and you will love it...great hotel bar with big log fire..prices will be slightly more than in bars and restaurants like most hotels.....
also great indoor pool and a nice outdoor pool for the summer
Thanks for the replies guys! Good to know there will be veggie options - i think i can handle pizza and salads for a week! :-)
Martin do you know how far roughly the walk is to the gondola from the hotel, as we will be hiring ski stuff so im assuming we will be walking in our normal shoes and change into ski gear when we get to the hire shop?
Also do you know how often the shuttle bus goes from the hotel?
The walk is no more than 10mins (in your normal footwear)- you keep your ski boots with you everyday and then change into them at the ski hire where you pick up your skis and poles.
Hi Manisha...like Donna says its no more than 10 mins...i have a ski hire shop which is situated between Perun and gondola..email me by clicking on my name(in blue) and i can give you some details re getting to gondola each day and hire if you need it
Ah ok 10 mins is not bad at all! Thanks Martin, but we have booked through Thomson/Crystal and as its our first time we have booked the whole package with ski hire and lessons. Thought it would be easier that way so we don't have to try and find everything ourselves! Maybe next year we'll come to you! :-)
It sounds like you have booked an Ulen package, great value. You can leave your boots and skis at the gondola, it does sometimes happen in busy times that they will give out your boots to new guests if you do not arrive early in the morning to claim them, but as its not that busy it should not be an issue.
O, by the way, its chucking it down with snow
