Bansko Hotels

Hi all,
I have asked this before but seemed to have lost the info so what i need is a good hotel in Bansko right where it all happens so that when we go for a beer or 3 we dont have to go that far and also im not sure how far the hotels are from the slopes but as near as poss would be ideal.
Thanks in advance Robo....

food in resturants in bansko is excellent and very cheap, the hotel kempinski grand arena is right on the slopes and you can ski to the door, very close to the town centre and all the bars ect, five star and looks realy nice. also have heard nothing but good reports on the lion and I think its the perun might be worth having a look at those two.

Perun is fantastic. It is opposite the Lion. The only down side is that it is about half a mile from the main bars.

Strazhite is closest to the town.

Kempinski Grand is closest to Gondola (about 300 yards from main bars). I would definately recommend the Perun but may give Kempinski a try next year just because of its position.

My advise - if you can afford go with the Kempinski both for location and facilities.

re: Bansko Hotels

I've stayed at the Kempinski and it was fantastic due to its location next to the gondola. Downside :- lon hill to zig zag up after a few beers. A good sort of drink and ski location is either the Strazhite or another good one Hotel Bulgaria.

If you can get out of hotels ( I would) . The Mont Blanc apartments are well positioned ( next to Sir Galahads) and equidistance between gondola and the bars of Pirin Street. You can book them on this site.

I can totally reccomed Hotel Avalon, great 3 star hotel at brilliant prices run by an English guy and his Bulgarian wife. They are both really clued up on Bansko and are brilliant hosts. Beer is really cheap in there 50p a large bottle. In the centre for all the apres ski and a 10 minute walk to gondola. Leave your skis and boots in a locker at gondola and saves on carrying them. Avalon is not used by any of the tour operators which is another good thing, so book your flights ...

They will even book your taxi transfer too which is far better than the coach journey.

re: Bansko Hotels

Kempinski is a world class 5 star hotel
In the pack are the Lion, Perun and Strazhite.

Others comments have mentioned locations.

Bear in mind though that the level of accomodation far exceeds that found in France (dreadful), USA and Austria to name three

I've got to agree with Bandai, and would deinitely stay at the Avalon again. Go B&B as there are loads of excellent restaurants in the town. Most of these are known to James at the Avalon. Mal
