Bansko Update Wednesday

Woke up to cloud and rain in the village and fingers crossed it was snowing on the tops.

It wasn't....continued to rain at top of gondola turning the snow to slush and dire conditions for beginners. Snow Road is open BUT you'll need powerful arms to push through the slush esp. at the bottom.

A bit better on the few pistes that are open further up with a couple or three inches overnight BUT mixed with rain so very heavy and difficult to carve through esp. this afternoon.

The wind and rain forced us to abandon our lessons this afternoon. The beginners area is so poor they cancelled classes even before they started.

Forecast is further rain turning colder to snow by Friday. Not looking good for Thursday but will post again tomorrow

Oh yes, Bulgaria only know two room heating settings
1) furnace level and 2) Centre of the Sun level....
Every pub, hotel and restaurant...take a tee shirt or cossie!
Off now to get off my sodden and sodding kit, then sauna, swim and Booze Booze It's a hard life

thanks for that. The traditional method of temperature regulation here is opening the window. Now you know why there's global warming.

re: Bansko Update Wednesday

that is so wrong. By about midday, it was rubbish - slush etc, but I got there early and it was great!!! No ice, no slush .... just 4 inches of snow!

The gondola starts at 08:30, get on the first few tomorrow and it will be great. i am convinced!

re: Bansko Update Wednesday

Yes pretty much. but it is still snowing at higher levels. This is good becuase most of the higher runs have been closed in the last few days.

I am no weather expert but if h2o keeps comming out of sky it will (hopefully) turn to snow in the night and forecast says that temps are to lower tomorrow than today.

It's all a bit depressing overall now - just over a week to go and Oxford got almost as much as Bansko!
