re: Bansko booking

You must be joking. We got 2 lift passes for £75. Skis were £28 each. We didn't do ski school so can't comment on that. The Neilson reps are around the hotels a lot more too. They also give you their mobile no. We didn't see a Balkan rep once in the Pirin.

Your choice but Neilson for me. Very Happy Very Happy

Yes IMT thats the Kempkinski or something. I thought I would give that one a miss next year and wait for the plaster to dry and the staff to settle in !

It is in the Balkan brochure and does look impressive.

Have any of you also been to Pamps ?

re: Bansko booking

The town is a real town as apposed to a purpose built ski resort. I walked from the Perun to the far side of the town and it took 30mins but all the good bars are within 10-15mins walk from the strazhite.

The ski pass with balkan cost £56 although I think it's going up next season and they do a good deal on other ski packages.

Sounds like a bargain Val. When the people here talk about skiing all the way back into the town do they mean back to the foot of the gondola or something else ? If the snow is not good on the lower slopes do you have to walk the last couple of miles or what ?

Yeah, did Pamps last year. Loved that too, but for me the skiing is much better in Bansko.

They mean to the foot of the gondola if the ski road is open. It is 7km from the top of the gondola. If you don't want to do that or if it isn't open you just go back down in the gondola. It is a lovely run though if it is open. Easy skiing through the trees. Very Happy Very Happy

re: Bansko booking

Sounds great. I would have gone this weekend but there was nothing available so off back to Pamps. Only problem there is there are really only 2 bars BJ's and Daks and they are sooooo loud. I just fancied something between that and the hotel bars if you know what I mean. It seems that there is a better choice of restaurant in Bansko town than Pamps as well.

And the skiing sounds fantastic.

re: Bansko booking

You'll love it. Bansko is a real town which is so much nicer I think than a man-made resort with loud bars. We found the Bulgarians really friendly as well. Our first meal out at a local mehana was typical. We were the only ones in there. They helped us with the menu. Gave us some local sausage (like salami). Served us a litre carafe of some really excellent wine. Then a guy got on the keyboard and played music all evening just for us.

re: Bansko booking

Sounds like just my cup of tea. Now all I need to do is check the school holdates for next year in 2 different schools in 2 different countries put a big black line thru next years wall planner do a bit of booking then I'm sorted. Is Xmas a bit risky like Pamps or is it pretty much guaranteed due to the altitude ?
