Bansko gondola

Hi. Is the access from Bansko to the slopes a big delay/problem with only the gondola giving access? Are there immense que's? Had a bit of it at Borovets last year and now heading to Bansko. Is it best to stay in town or can one stay higher up? Thanks!

re: Bansko gondola

I can only speak for last year - and the truth was if you were not there early (8.30 ish) then there were long queues of up to 30 mins.

Nothing much on the slopes for the evening - best to stay in the town.

PP Cool

re: Bansko gondola

We stayed next to Gondola at Kempinski hotel, late jan and only had to queue on a race day, didn't see what the fuss was all about and we had to meet an instructor on the mountain most mornings except the day the Bulgarian mafia shut the whole mountain with a false bomb threat, apparently it happens too often, but you can get a taxi up the road anyday that the gondola is slow or big queues.

Agree with PP, i was there 3 time last winter. Avoid the 9am rush get there 8.30 or 9.30 onwards.

Not half as bad as some people make out and i've seen far worse in France and Austria.

If you want to stay on the piste you can stay at the TODORKA Hotel but might be limited to what you can do in the Evenings.

re: Bansko gondola

Get a taxi up to the bottom lift - still cost effective if there's a few of you - we did this when there problems with the gondola q's!
