Bansko hotel recommendations

Hi, going to Bansko for the first time in Feb, can anyone please recommend a good hotel... close to gondola and town, clean, friendly, nothing flash, reasonably priced? Altneratively, a one bed double appartment? Its hard to know whats good and whats not from the pitcures!

Also, would you recommend buying ski passes and equipment on line before hand or when you are there?

Thank you!

Perun hotel is very good with OK location,
Lion Hotel has the same location, and is good too, Strahistze is for me the best located hotel between town and lift, maybe the same standard as Lion hotel
For apartments you can't beat bansko royal towers for position relative to Gondola along with good facilities
If you want a friendly hotel run by brits go to the avalon which is run by the most helpful bloke in town, james. It's cheap and clean and on the Gondola side of town

We've not actually stayed at the Hotel Perun, but after visiting it last year, we decided that would be the hotel for us next we skied Bansko. We were staying in the hotel Tanne, 100m down the road from the Perun and there was just no atmosphere there, so we took a stroll up to the Perun and immediately regretted we didnt book there instead of the hotel Tanne. The bar area was spacious with a big log fire and loads of comfortable soft seats and the heated swimming pool and hot tub were spot on as well. Its 5 min location from the Gondola also makes it a good choice. I can testify that they had regular shuttles to the Gondola in the morning, as their mini buses went past us regularly as we walked!!! (Hotel Tanne shuttle didnt start till 9am !!! brilliant when you need to be at Gondola for 8.30 latest before queues start to build up).

re: Bansko hotel recommendations

Me again....Agree with Jimmy Gee on The Lucky Bansko being nice, but at the awful end of the town. No atmosphere as the bar is about 6 feet long. Pool & Spa are good though, and the shuttle buses are very good. Beware of scam with half board. We were warned before staying there and they tried to tell us that we didnt have half board. Luckily we had all our paperwork with us.

We are staying in the Kempinski again this year and this is without doubt the best hotel in Bansko

re: Bansko hotel recommendations

you say the lucky bansko is at the awful end of the town you are only 5-8 mins walk away from the the town with the old traditional restraunts very good food and great value. New bars and a bowling alley have now opened 2 mins from the lucky bansko. Keep you eye on this area I think people will be surprised on what is going on?

Stayed at the Lion 3 years ago and could not fault it. Great rooms - great food - hot water 24/7 - great free ski bus shuttle - in fact - great all round Razz
