We are going back to Bansko in January, last visit two years ago. Is Ctzurna Mogila open this season?

I would hope so. it seems a shame that it is always closed. I love coming to Bansko but sometimes feel that after a few days i want to try new runs. why has it been closed so long and where is the lift that takes you up ctzurna mogila?

Is this number 14 Akademia run to the right as you go up the gondola? If so, its been closed for many years due to avalanche riskre: Bansko piste
And it won't be open this seaon either. Looking forward to when they do open it again though. They need to do a bit more avalanche barrier/safety work before re-opening.re: Bansko piste
so why dont they get on with it. the slopes are getting more crouded each year and having that open might help?

The access to the old lift is uphill, it would require quite a bit of clearing to re-open the piste, and as has been explained the avalanche risk still exists... It is still the next logical step though, the talk was to lower the top station to take away the access to the most dangerous slope, and if permissions are correct the base will actually be adjacent to the proposed top station of the now elusive second gondola ??? making the access a lot easier...

As for the slopes being busier, actually numbers were down last year... This year could be differant though, if our bookings are anything to go on...
