re: Bansko rentals

even if in 10 years thinks change the place is still low resort( Pamporovo by skiing standards)with limited skiing in the middle of nowhere and infrastructure non existent so if they extent the height of the peakSmile and the snow gets more reliable --maybe.
there are developed resorts in the alps with very strict building regulations and people geared for the tourists trade with smiles and closer to Home(UK)-- safe investment

Lisa, unless you desperately need to free up that money I would not worry. Regardless of what anyone says on here (including me), no-one really knows what's going to happen with the property market. This country is going to get millions of Euros pumped into it over the next few years. Their main export is tourism. It looks a bit doom 'n gloom at the mo... but it will get better, with all that money, it has to. I don't know one country where over the long term it has gone tits up. Spain was ...

Spain was saturated 20 years ago, then property boom, then saturated again!! Swings and roundabouts, that's what I say. If you can weather the storm...

re: Bansko rentals

It's all about price Lisa. If you are sensible with your rates you will get rentals. I have rented my apt out for the whole of the ski season. Ok not at the silly rates others are talking about but a fair rent = steady income

re: Bansko rentals

Thanks Dave. May i ask what you are getting per week for your rentals? My apartment is going to be rented via the Kempinski Hotel - not sure if this is a good or a bad thing.

Lisa ,

I looked into this 2 years ago , when it was a lot quieter .
on was out again soon . From what I have been reading on these boards , looks like i had a close escape , with higher costs ect. Agree with others tho , if you can advertise at home you could do ok , and at least you can come out when every you like an not pay a fortune at peak times.

I would have said billions but it is not as simple as that - currently, the EU has suspended the funding Bulgaria gets for road building after they found that the corrupt head of the Bulgarian Highways Agency was letting road building and maintenance contracts worth tens of millions of euro to his brother's construction company. Also, the Bulgarian administration has absolutely no capacity to prepare projects to present to the EU - and if you do not have good projects, you do not get money. It is as simple as that. Currently, the Bulgarians are uncapable of utilising any more than the 20% of the available EU funding. So it is only going to be a trickle of money for the forceable future, rather than a flood.
