Now, im not one to spread rumours but..... we have heard from more than one source (three infact) that Ulen will be updating the old poma up the middle of Todorka with a 4 man chair, and expanding a chair from the top of the gondola to a 6 or 8 man...
Also less reliable is the news of the start of re-opening Akidemika, after being closed for 5 years, the next natural expansion... Time will tell but we will keep all informed as we actually see what is happening
6 or 8 man chair would be great, as long as it is used to capasity. At xmas the operators were quiet happy to let one or two people on a four man chair even though the ques were well over 20 mins long. Great idea but need to be used to full capacity.
Ulen seemed to learn after the Christmas/New Year fiasco.. Proper queue management at Shilligarnika, and the filling of each gondola... Even posting up small (A4) diagrams of what pistes and lifts were open on the mountain in each of the lift pass windows.. A start as what we really need is a proper information board in the gondola station itself... The situation after Christmas was a lot better Are they learning ???
Is that between the 2 blue runs above tree line? If so THANK GOD my legs/thighs just are in bits by the top of that then I dread the run down on shaky weak legs.
I was there for the last week Easter week - one thing which annoyed me so much is the constant queue jumping literally people in a sort of line gradually moving forward then plenty just ski/Snowboard past and jump most of the lift. I even deliberatly left my sticks wide in the ground to try to stop people passing me and one guy ...

Maybe its down to the lunacy the car drivers have ... I had a tfr to & from Bansko and on the way back mid morning weekend time which looked quite busy to me it took under 90mins.... the way out took 120mins and that was with congestion traffic....
Driving through Sofia on those cobbled streets I saw the speedo hit 130kph ... frankly as I was paying for the tfr I nearly stated please slow down what it amounted to was rather than a nice safe tfr we were waiting for the check in gate to open for over 90mins as I'd assumed a nice ride back - even told him check in starts at x time so what time should we leave...3hrs no less.
Gareth, we drive almost every day through the winter, a number of our guests will not drive with Bulgarian drivers. Our average is around 2 3/4 hours Bansko to the airport. 90 mins Sofia - Bansko is madness, 160km with many villages on route... wasn't HHB was it ??? or Mitch & Co ??? Have seen their passengers glued to the windows, like garfield dolls, terrorfied
As for queueing, no differant anywhere in Europe sadly, just make yourself as wide as possible, and don't give way
I do consider myself a "making progress" type of driver but I wouldnt even come close to 5% of the overtaking which I saw - totally totally shocking.
No wonder the Bulgarian Road deaths per annum are roughly the same total number as the UK yet Bulgaria has only 9million people.... we have 63million.
Why the men feel no need to seatbelts is beyond me - really as a passenger I should demand the driver use one while Im in the car incase of an accident I want th driver still to be ...

We were at Bansko over easter, no queues at all, hardly anyone there, it was really good, skiing in the morning till early afternoon. Then ski road home to that lovely restaurant half way down, for cheap food and a couple of beers in the sun, perfect.
Transfer back to Sofia was mad though, 100 mph and less than 2 hours to the airport.
