Bansko ups price of ski lift passes
Yulen, the company operating the skiing facilities in mountain resort Bansko, said the price of the daily pass for the use of the ski lifts will double from last year to 50 levs, making it too expensive for native skiers. A 2-day pass will cost 95 levs while a weekly pass will cost 280 levs. Bulgaria's other major ski resorts, Pamporovo and Borovets, also intend to increase the price of ski lift passes.
i think it`s very stupid. How Bg people will afford to ski in bansko, it`s really far too much, above the prices in pamporovo, for example. I have friends, who are mad about ski, but they say we may b won`t go thsi year bcs it`s very dear for us. Plz can`t u do something on that issue. i think that 35 lv is quiet a better price, or something like that
its a shame that locals are being priced off the mountain, but when the EU starts looking into pricing structures and monopolys its only going to get worse
The EU has nothing to do with it - it is Bulgarian operators which are raising the prices. The locals are screwed up by their own. In any case, where does it say in the Bulgarian constitution that Bulgarians have any rights to go skiing?
Eh Baz the Eu does have something to do with it. Because under Eu legislation you cannot have a 2 tire pricing system. So the operators are not going to lower it so the tourist pays very little. Shame bit of a catch 22 really.
seems to me we are talking about 2 diffrent things, one is , as baz puts it "the locals being screwed up by there own" or in other words a general increase in the price of a lift pass and the other is the removal of the 2 tier pricing system, as referd to by Daniel,I must say i think the removal of the 2 tier pricing system is only fair, however what dosnt seem fair is to raise the price paid by us and to ditch the 2 tier system in the same season making a double raise if you are Bulgarian. ...

perhaps these changes could have been bought in over a period of a few seasons.

The word for it is "greed". The stupid Bulgarian operators think they can make money forever. Before they know it, tourists will be off to far better places like, for example, Slovenia. People only go to Bulgaria because it is cheap - if they lose that, they will lose the tourists.
