Having spent the last 4 ski holidays in Borovets, we are heading to Bansko for the first time in March.I like Borovets, because beginners (and my 3 year old) can play around on the nursery slopes at the bottom without having to buy a lift pass etc.
I was just wondering, is this possible in Bansko too, or do we have to get on the gondola to get to any slopes?

No you will need a lift pass, unless you want to walk up the ski road.

you maybe able to get away with a pass for the gondla if you just want to get up to the ski area. If you want to use the nursery slopes though you will need a full lift pass.re: Bansko?
Oh well, that's disappointing! I think all resorts should have a cheap pass for the nursery slopes for little ones and complete beginners who maybe just want to play for an hour....Looks like we may just have to spend a couple of days in Borovets too...Thanks for the info

If you wish to play for an hour, get a lift up to the top of the gondola in a taxi or private bus (6 - 10lv each), and ski down the ski road, or try Challin Valog, there is an area by the lift that you can walk to, and have a little practice, or get the little'n on a sledge....re: Bansko?
Thanks Steve, the little'n does have a sledge which is why she loved borovets last year and we are looking for a similar play-slope.Where is 'Chalin Valog'?re: Bansko?

I think your best bet with the little one would be to take the gondola to the top, or as steve suggested a taxi, the gondola is 18lv adult and 14 lv child (£9 and £7), the taxi option may work out cheaper if you fancy the 4 mile walk back down the ski road, you can tow the little one behind, but be aware the ski road can be busy, you wont be too popular if you are right in the middle of the piste!!.

Chalin Valog is the half way point of the gondola, go to banskoski.com and look at the piste map.

Colin,Sorry, forgot to mention that the ski road is only really busy at the end of the day when the ski schools finish, during the mornings it can be quiet.

Thanks Don, I didn't realise that you can drive to the top! I will have my car with me so maybe that's the solution. Is it easy to find parking at the top without upsetting anyone??Colin...
