Beginner in Bansko

Booked my trip to Bansko (26 Feb, Hotel Pirin) in a bit of a hurry and have since noticed that the resort seems to cater extremely well for intermediate and advanced skiiers, but perhaps less so for total beginners like my boyfriend and I. Have we made a huge mistake?! Drinks are clearly ludicrously cheap so not all bad but will we be out of our depth with the skiing/confined to a tiny beginners slope with the under 5s for the week?Thanks

Gidday Chloe,Haven't been to Bansko yet but am giving it a try on the 23rd of Jan. From what I have heard Bansko is very good for beginners and as long as you take lessons you'll be going down the blue runs in no time.

Hi Chloe. My husband and I will also be at the Pirin on 26th Feb. We are intermediates but just as happy with cruising blue runs as doing the reds. Are you going into ski school first? After you've got basics happy to assist on the slopes if we can. In any case see you around for a drink maybe. I expect you are a lot younger than us (we are early 50s) but we can drink as well as the rest!!!!

My wife and I are going to Bansko that week too... I have been skiing before, but she hasn't done anything except at the snow dome in Tamworth. Having spoke to a lot of people about this, I don't think it'll be too much of a problem. The instructors there are used to teaching beginners on those slopes. While they aren't the easiest to learn on, everyone I have spoken to had no problem after a day or two.
We are both early - mid twenties... let me know if you fancy meeting ...

Chloedont forget to review your holiday when you return, i am off to Bansko 5 March and am beginner like yourself with my 11 yr old, (partner can ski fine!) so it would be nice to hear your opinion on the place and ski school.

Whats all this talk of drinks?I'm always so knackered at the end of the day, that a cup of tea while soaking in the bath is all I can manage.
Let me know how it goes, I've got the family booked into Bansko in mid Feb. And I'm the only one who has skiied before.

Hi ChloeMy husband and I are also in Bansko that week, staying at Hotel Perun. I've skied before but he is a ski virgin. We'll both be going to ski school so no doubt we'll see you there. If we don't see you on the slopes then we'll see you in the bar for a drink or two.

We will be there 6th Feb. Some of us can ski, other can't and we had the same concerns about the beginers. There doesn't appear to be many / any green runs, which you would normally progress to after the nursery slopes, but I have seen some posts from other beginners that have returned from Bansko and they didn't seem to have a problem progressing from Nursery to blues. Use the search at the top of the page and search for Bansko. You will see a post from Melini "Returned from Bansko". Lots ...
