I was in a mountain bar earlier in the year in Austria when an English chap came in proudly wearing his Pamporovo bell on a rucksack, well you could cut the air with a knife when he jangled in, perhaps they don't travel well to other ski resorts

Never seen these bells in Boro... The gypsies sell fantastic woollen socks, which would just be too warm over here. I also buy a Martiniza (?), but I would quite like a bell on my rucksack, or hat.

I bought a lucky brick of a gypsy in bansko. Not so lucky cause I had to pay excess baggage as my case was overweight on arrival at the airport. I you still want a lucky brick of your own you'll find a guy who looks like a builder standing outside a half built apartment block near Sir Galahad.

i keep hearing loads about these bell things are like a good luck thing are they expensive

The cost of a bell depends on how good your haggling skills are? Its all part of the fun, the bell sellers to like to have a good haggle! Never pay the first price they ask!..... As for are they good luck, well they've never done me no harm! 20 years of skiing without so much as a pulled muscle! Roll on 8 March!!

I didn't haggle with charlie diesel I just gave him the 20 lev he asked for, 10 lev per bell.

That's probably about right for a 2" bell, so I don't think you would have got them for much less?

I was happy to pay 20 lev, charlie diesel said that his tax was due was on his porsche 911 so I sort of felt sorry for him

charlie diesel tried to get 25lv for 1 bell off my other half... he paid 20 in the end.

I got 2 bells off Nike David this year with engraved names for 50lv...

The week we were there we tried to haggle them down but all people were paying about that...

We didm't mind afterall we were on holiday but the bells did work out at about 9 quid each!
