We went to Borovets for the first time last season and had a great time.We want to go back and are interested in opinions on which is the best hotel to stay in. Brief research seems to suggest either Rila or Samokov - any opinions?
Also, when is the best time to go? We went in early Feb - snow was good at the beginning of the week, but tailed off towards the end.
All replies and opinions gratefully received.

Hi Duncan,I've always stayed at the Samokov, and cant think of any other hotel that I'd rather stay in.
Rooms are always clean and warm, food is no better or worse than the others, facillities are very good.
I find that the shopping complex attached to the Rila brings in a lot of people to the Rila bar and reception area so you cant always find a seat to have a drink and chill a little.

I have stayed in the Rila and had no complaints about it, The rooms were very clean and recently done up (2 years ago now) the food was fine, some strange ones but so much there was always something good there, and out of the 6 of us that went there were 5 fussy eaters, 2 being kids. The food there was quite limited and repetitive, something and chips every night!! We also found them to be too out of town
This year we opted for the Iglika, never stayed there yet but it seems nice.

Thanks Pie,You're right the bar area in Rila is a cool place to hang out, always lots going on. I must admit I do prefer to be more central, also means it's not so far to stagger back from the Buzz Bar
Either way, as long as there's snow it'll be great.

Buzz bars even closer to the samakov, if its still there this year of course!!Having stayed at them both id opt for the samakov, nearer the gondola, better ski school and storage, and the bar area, although quieter has a certain quality to it, thats missing in the rila, oh and the upstairs restaurant is 100x better

My sisters and families and kids been to the Rila aprox 4 years, very good and all you need, they said food can be hit an miss, however as food cheap else where not a problem and enjoy visiting other bars. We are staying in the Iglika this year as aprox £80.00 cheaper with ingrhams! Only want some where to shower and snooze, does anyone know of it?

This will be our 4th year in Borovets. The first three years we stayed in the Rila, its comfortable and warm but the food leaves a lot to be desired, you are better off eating out (its very cheap). 10 of us are travelling out on 19th February. We thought we would give the Iglika Palace a go this time. Has anyone stayed there?
Also is there any fit 14 year old lasses going if so plz reply. from marge's son.

Just like to say i am related to Marge Simpson and have seen her in full ski outfit including boots (brooms for ski poles) signing on my Karioki (prob spelt wrong..sorry glass of red wine) at 2 am in my kitchen in mid Aug....
