Ok I'll have my say as a girl................ Skier!
I think you'll find, from personal experience, most blokes think they can do black runs once they have mastered snow plough turns!! If you're in a ski school the (usually) young blocks always want to push the group way over their ability.
Most women want to ski with a good technique, rather than getting down the hardest run as fast as possible!!!

To answer your question, don't think it matters what sex you are, as to how good you can become as a skier or boarder, but tend to agree with Amanda, that lots of blokes put machismo before technique when on the slopes.
To bring a bit of seriousness to this thread...
It is a fact that girls tend to be more able initially on the slopes as their centre of gravity is lower, and their upper body weight is less (even with breasts) allowing them to maintain a better body position...
If they can forget the `fear factor' and go for it, generally the girls are actually easier to teach, and pick up techniques a lot quicker....

Im sorry to say but these levels are falling in both lads and girls (something to do with the schools ???) and also determination seems to be lacking as well, people do give up easier now it seems and the girls are in the majority...
Still, its lovely to watch a good girl skier, especially in a well fitted ski suit, just to admire those moves
