re: Best place to eat in Pamps.

I'd avoid the large newish restaurant on the same side as the white heart / Alaska supermarket. Can't remember the name - something2?? Expensive, poor service and food wasn't great.

Danmar or Dagmar?? for Pizza's a deffo, cheap, lovely food and good service.

On the slopes go to Rossignol restaurant at Studenets mid station just near the corner of the green run and the wall black run. Good food, nice place, good price and nice people: large beer 3L, Pizza 8L, kavarma 8L. Paid twice that ...

There's still some good inexpensive restaurants in Pamps, the trick is to vote with your feet and avoid the expensive ones; send a message Booze

• The Old House
Great authentic Bulgarian atmosphere. Traditional dress and made to feel welcome. Food great and service excellent. We had booked (as very busy with it being new year holiday – very busy in BG) but would not have got in if we hadn't booked.
Family of 5 eating. Children – 1 x pizza margarita – 1 x kids lasagne 1 x pork ribs. Adult 1 x grilled trout, 1 x chicken skewer with chips. 3 x soft drinks, 1 x 1litre house red wine. 3 x pancakes with chocolate and 1 x chocolate ...

• The Snezhanka Mehana
wonderful service – waiter (Peter) couldn't do enough for us and spoke excellent English. Live entertainment was good standard and involved the children – lovely family atmosphere and excellent value for money.
2 x kids chicken skewer, 1 x kids chicken 2 skewers, 1 x mixed grilled meats for 2 persons, 3 x soft drinks, 1 x 1 litre house red, 2 x pancakes with chocolate 1 x yoghurt with blueberries. – 65.80 Lev

• The Belfry (Chanove 2)
After meeting the bloke outside on 4 or 5 occasions we decided to give it a go. We ate here last year and had an OK meal although spoilt by it being a karaoke evening and there being a school party in singing 'Alice, who the **** is Alice' which is great – except when you have a 9 and a 6 yr old who think swear words are really great to repeat on the slopes the next day!!
So, giving it a second chance, we sat down and were promptly met with a power cut. OK this was not the staff's fault and it only lasted 10 mins or so. We placed our order and got drinks promptly.
Child 1 x pizza margarita arrived promptly as did 1 x child chicken nuggets. 10Mins later I got my wiener schnitzel and that was it. My hubby got his food 40 minutes after mine and my 4 yr old got her sausages 40 mins after mine. My roasted veg arrived even after this – and long after I'd finished my meal so I waived them away and said 'no thanks, I've finished'. We paid for what we had eaten and left without asking for the bill. We stopped to talk to the man outside who had enticed us in and explained all the problems to him but it had spoilt our night over all. They were not busy, there was one waiter with glasses who seemed to be running around doing all the work and the rest were stood around chatting. Very disappointed and would not recommend at all!! We added up the bill manually – it came to well over 100 levs, we left 90 and walked out – we felt that was fair and more than covered the cost of our meals. No none came running after us.

• Barbecue restaurant – Hotel Mourgavets
Great night – service second to none and food excellent. We had a pizza margarita, cucumber salad, 2 plates of chips, a maw haw (hotch potch) – which was like a ratatouille but without the courgettes, 2 x grilled trout. 3 x soft drinks, 1 x litre house red wine. 88 levs.
Live band playing – all superb instrumentalists – violinist, clarinet player, mandolin player as well as keyboard and 2 x female vocalists. Half way through the evening the music stopped and there was a man doing walking on hot coals on the floor – great entertainment, well received and a very good value for money night out. Very child friendly – kids are greeted warmly where ever we go.

• The Danmar
Located towards ski centre 1 (near the road junction where the police checkpost is and the main bus terminal)
Reported to excellent for Pizza’s and steaks cooked on open fire. Also very cheap for beer.

• On the piste - China Toni
This is at the bottom of the Malina green run, right at the bottom by the 3 man chair lift (lift 5) to the tower– lovely family run restaurant on the piste, run by Tomi. Very friendly and reasonable. (you may even see this photo in there)
Best dishes here are probably the pizza’s and the fresh squeezes orange juice. We have defrosted in here a number of times and had some super lunches. Normally spend between 60 and 70 lev for our family of 5.

• Markony Hotel (above Interski
Had lunch here. Excellent service and food great – right at Ski centre 2 and very reasonably priced. It is where the ski instructors eat their lunch (which says it all doesn't it?) Thoroughly recommended.
1 x omelette 1 x half roast chicken, 1 Childs baked beans on toasted buns, 1 x Childs pizza 1 x chips
