Best sno conditions, which resort?

Hey people, myself and they slightly better half are due to go to Bansko on the 3rd. But we are able to change our destination as long as we can find a decent enough hotel. Would anyone recommend changing from Bansko to Borovets. Remember, this is purely about boarding/skiing/snow conditions. I don't mind any town centres, i just want fun on the slopes and the knowledge i can find a good beer at the end of the day.

Any and all help appreciated.

Hi Sean,

If it's purely about skiing/snow conditions why do you want to change from Bansko? I thought that they had more runs than both Borovets and Pamps?

re: Best sno conditions, which resort?

That is what i would have thought. I believe that Borovets is having the best of the conditions at the moment. I am not sure of the conditions in Bansko, i see that Borovets has the best base, and i have read some glowing reports. They both seem to have rather large queues for the gondola. I just was wondering what people thought, i have heard that Bansko was probably the better area fpr boarding etc, but with the way the conditions are this year i would rather i get the best i can get!

For boarding Bansko is excellent.
Snow conditions are comparable at the moment. Check www.banskoski.com web cams and enjoy Very Happy

P.S. Hope you are experienced boarders, otherwise Bansko might be a little bit steep :-)

re: Best sno conditions, which resort?

we are experienced enough i think. 4 weeks all up, this will be our 5th. 3 weeks in France, one in Laax. So hopefully we will be ok.

re: Best sno conditions, which resort?

That should be ok :-)
Personnaly, as a boarder, you will have a ball. Pists are long long down from 2600 to 1600 metres, but of course you will not have the km you get in France. However, the good is that the domain is very compact and well varied for its number of km.

Good luck!

I don't know who does the measurement of the depth of snow on these webpages, but I wouldn't put much faith in it. If you want skiing, Bansko is definately the better bet. Borovets seems more for people who want to have a good pissup and also ski.

re: Best sno conditions, which resort?

I'm going to Bansko that week (only boarder in a group of learner skiers). I can't figure out the snow reports as four sites I regularly check all give different results.

I was interested in this comment "Hope you are experienced boarders, otherwise Bansko might be a little bit steep" from akibobo.

Surely it depends on your definitions of "experienced" and "steep". I'd be interested in a bit more detail.

Cheers.
