re: Blades???

You can hire blades from the end of the road in Boro, near the revolution bar, he has a green astro turf front.

Its great fun, much easier on poor snow than skis, good to build confidence if you a poor skier, but does tend to ruin any sort of skiing technique that you may have had. On deep snow or off-piste they are pretty hard work.

I went to blades a few years back as I would rather have fun in the snow than spend a week in tears because "I can't do it". Hope this helps.

re: Blades???

Blades are easy and great fun but you need to be carefull with the bindings if you are not a good skier, when are you going?

re: Blades???

They look good fun but I know someone who had a really terrible leg break on them when the bindings didn't give. Another person on the same trip dislocated their knee!!! That rather put me off, but I may have just been part of a very unlucky trip!!

re: Blades???

Not a big fan, I have a pair but find them hard to stop on and they wobble around a lot more than skis, any deep snow and you are over. Controlling over icey areas not easy either. I would rather have my long skis find them a lot easier to control and find I have more fast fun on them.

re: Blades???

Been back from boro a couple of weeks now and really struggled the 1st day on ski's due mostly to the bad conditions of the red's. (I can fly down the slope at xscape all day long on ski's without one wipeout where as in boro on the 1st day I spent more time on my arse than stood up!) the 2nd day I hired blades, wow what a differance, so much so I bought some at the end of the 2nd day and did'nt look back. SO much earier to turn with and once you get used to them lots of fun. Granted maybe ...

Granted maybe not as fast as ski's but I managed to keep up with my mates who where on ski's, in fact a mate who followed me down a red said he tried to match my turns at first but had no chance.

I say hire some for the day and see how you get on, judge for yourself.

re: Blades???

Outstanding fun, great way of improving your style and control, but if you lean back over you go. Would recommend you try them.
