An option I used before getting my own kit was to have the boards serviced before a holiday and take some rub on wax for mid-week touch-ups and then get the board serviced again when you get back.
Your safest all round bet on hot iron wax though is an all temp general purpose wax - there are many brands out there.
Each service place will have their preferred brand of wax to use too.
