Boots & Snow

Hi, We are travelling to Borovets for New Year, this being our first Skiing holiday and we would like to know what the quality of the boots that you hire out there are like? Are they new each season or are they old and ill fitting? Any advice would be most appreciated. Also from experience is there normally snow there by then.

re: Boots & Snow

Are you Skiing or snowboarding? I went Borovets last year and hired snowboard boots from the samakov and they were pretty bad. Old tatty things which began to hurt after a few hours. I had to swap them after a few days and the ones they gave me were not much better. If its ski boots your after then i cant help you sorry

Sorry then mate ive no experience of the ski gear- 2 of the group we went with last year rented ski gear from the samokov and they didnt really complain. The staff seemed pretty helpfull getting the right gear for you though.

re: Boots & Snow

If you have a package you probably can't choose the supplier, but if you can, it pays to shop around. Some of the rental gear came in on the Ark. If you are stuck with one supplier, get there early to get the best choice, don't get fobbed off with crap and don't be rushed. Oh and ski boots are rarely comfortable unless they have been customised, so take plenty of Advil....

re: Boots & Snow

Some of the stuff may not be new but theres no reason to accept something thats not fitting correctly is uncomfortable. It is common practice to people to change their boots if they arent happy. Dont be shy.
At the end of the day you are renting the equipment.

re: Boots & Snow

Most rental places have higher end gear if you pay extra,if you complain enough they'll give it free of charge..

As for snow,it's usually ok at new yr,but as everywhere else you can never be sure,so fingers crossed..
